It's still a travesty that there are no championship games on Saturday night like there used to be. HUGE mistake and missed opportunity to showcase teams on a weekend night by the boys athletic association. Nobody wants to watch championship games on a Friday afternoon. Just doesn't have the same feel.
I will give Nebraska huge props for keeping all championship games on Saturday and all broadcast all day via public TV.
Although 6 classes are just dumb. The bottom 3 would all fit in Iowa class A.

I was somewhat amazed that, pretty much, the entire western half of the State didn't get a 3A or 4A team in the tournament this year.

Are you counting DSM metro as west or east? Or do you have a West/Central/East thing going?

I can see the schools being pressured to move stuff off of spring break.

Day 2 begins with Hudson beating Grundy Center, 55-51.

Grundy led by 6 early in the 4th, but Hudson came back to tie it with 3 minutes left and then went 6/6 at the FT line in the final minute to close it out.
I have a bad memory of Hudson knocking my HS out, 1 game from playing at the old Vet. Killed us on high backpicks for backdoor lay-ups.

Raef had a move in the barn that I'll never forget. On semi break from the FT line he did a spin then soared in for a left handed dunk.
I thought about him recently - he was better made for today's game. He played the old power forward in the NBA but he had a nice stroke and would've been a better stretch 4. Maybe his knees would've held up.

The boy's tourney used to be spring break week but now it is the week before. A few years back, they surveyed the schools, and the schools said they wanted to be done on Friday because of spring break the following week.

When they did this, the consolation games were eliminated, and all four finals are now played on Friday.

Both girls and boys tourneys moved up a week so that Des Moines could be in the running for NCAA men's tournament games. Consolation games were cancelled after covid hit which wasn't a bad thing because a consolation game is the worst game to play to begin with. With 5 classes the girls play 35 games and have to play on Saturday, with only 4 classes with 28 games total the boys don't have to play on Saturday. Also with games over on Friday it opens up the arena for the Wild,Wolves and Barnstormers. These teams have to play on the road for the most part for 3 to 4 weeks because of the wrestling and basketball tourneys being played.

But I digress from HS hoops ...

Does anyone know if there is a site with live scores? (Or at least frequent updates?)

"Our goal in moving the state basketball tournament to a 5-day event is to reduce conflicts with college basketball tournaments and spring breaks that many school districts are engaged in and provide our schools, communities and fans a shorter tournament week experience," IHSAA Executive Director Alan Beste said in a release.

Both can be (and are) true.

Click on the basketball link, then the tournament central link and then you will see in game statistics link.

What difference does Saturday make? Shoot, they probably served Valley and Dowling and that was it.

Or the same ability to tune in.

In WI pretty sure the entire state tournaments are on a local station in various parts of the state, carried by Fox.

The IHSAA sucks. Bunch of greedy sobs who only care about the big schools and fancy hotel locations for themselves.

Surprised Nebraska hasn't sanctioned 3 on 3 basketball for every school district west of Lincoln
