That is pretty great to hear, honestly! The fact that they feel comfortable replacing best corner we have had since LJ, really speaks to the depth they have built at the corner position.

Yeah, I think they feel really good about the young DBs. I'll have a story about that later this week.

Hakeem the Dream! I rewatched TCU yesterday and what David Montgomery is to YAC for RB’s...Butler is to YAC for WR’s. Unbelievable player and definitely irreplaceable this season.

That game is so entertaining! Not often you are going to see anyone (let alone Iowa State) completely shut out that potent of an offense for an entire game. Turnovers were huge in that game and we will have to keep that trend going this year, I suspect, to keep the program advancing as we expect it to.

Oh! Gotta go! Looks like the wife is trying to figure out how to unlock the "Protected" status of the Oklahoma game on my DVR.

Good list. I’d throw in JGJ, if we want to get to the next level we need improved play on the OL and he is our best and most versatile O-Lineman.

Side note: I was told true freshman defensive end Will McDonald is the best player this staff has ever recruited to Ames

Whoah - what?
Caught my attention too!

I would have figured that title to be held by Uwazurike up until now...

He’s listed at 6’4 213 on the roster. Of course, Berryman did okay at about 6’2 210 as a true frosh.

Good info on Seonbuchner. I had no idea he was that well regarded.

Before I opened the article I thought to myself that Lima and Seonbuchner had better be on this list or it's garbage. And Stanz came through for me. It is probably the same list I would have made, although Spears surprised me a tad.

Numbers aren't going to tell the story of the effectiveness of a DT. Eating up two blockers is not statistic that's tracked, but a DT who does that consistently can have a huge impact on a defense. Same goes for maintaining the line of scrimmage, or pushing offensive lineman back into the pocket. Neither appear in the stat line, but both have a big impact on defensive play.

ISU's Dline was excellent at staying in their lanes last year IIRC.

Being strong in discipline is crucial.

I want to see Seonbuchner catch a TD this year so bad.

I’m also curious who is 3rd and 4th string at his spot because those are the guys I’m a fan of.

I would’ve listed Montgomery. He took on a leadership role as a freshman inspiring the rest of the team to put in more work during the offseason. My List:

Montgomery
Lima
Spears
Good-Jones
Peavy
