The new contract is hilarious. Its essentially just a $50,000 pay cut. It provides performance objectives, with no real consequences for failing to achieve those objectives.

If he meets the objectives, he gets bonuses that sound as though his compensation would exceed last year's total amount. So, perhaps a raise in a round about way.

Surprisingly, the defense only scored 46 points last year. 3.5 per game. But they did give the offense the ball in opponents' territory at an absurd rate for the amount of points they were able to score for it.

The "contract" terminates yes. That doesn't mean they terminate Brian. It just means the contract is over and they will write a different stupid contract probably with lower bars that they can achieve.
