It seems that many of the Texas girls had tape around their finger joints, while the ISU girls didn't. How does the tape help? It seems odd that one team would do it and one team wouldn't.

ALot of players, setters in particular (#10 for Texas), wear small wraps of tape as a bit of "stick 'em". Gives them a bit of touch on the ball. The Baylor setter had hands like a mummy.
And others will wrap fingers as a bit of a splint. Got a Victoria Henson type player bombing away at you as a blocker - your fingers or going to get torn up pretty good.
Seemed that the Texas players sweat a bit more than your average team. They were wiping up the floor almost constantly in the 3rd game. Makes a good stall tactic too (funny how they dried up in the 4th when they were winning). That tape would give a bit of contact point as well for the hitters.
