I'm tired of hearing about the great Matt Campbell

We have a chance to win 8 games for the 3rd straight year for the first time in over 40 years. And some people are complaining about the coach???

Either the OP is 10 years old and knows zero about ISU football history or this is the dumbest thread in the history of CF.
Agreed. I've sat thru decades of horrible football. This is nothing compared to the 80s, 90s, etc. I've lived thru those days, witnessed some bad coaching, and big blowouts with no hope in sight. This team has done a great job this year. Things are going to improve. Let's all enjoy it. It's not like Trump is the head coach.

I don't disagree with any of this. But the people who are disappointed in this season are correct too, and pointing out that we've never had it this good does nothing to change the fact that we had big expectations for this season - that even Campbell embraced - and failed to live up to them.

All of these things are true: 1) we're in a much better place than four years ago, 2) we're well-positioned for the future, 3) despite that, this season was disappointing, and 4) Campbell deserves some mild, constructive criticism for it.

Feel free to point out the 'mild constructive criticism' on here.

And how silly is it to think that any of us are capable of constructive criticism. None of us know anything about coaching a Big 12 team.

Agreed. ISU got owned up front by the K-state D-line for most of the game. Some of the other times that occurred during the CMC tenure, were back to back owning by Texas.

The D line would have preformed better if they would call holding every now and then in college football. Watch NFL lines block vs college lines. Teams like KSU and Iowa hold bad on most plays. ISU's D is lucky to have one holding call a game called against the other team this year and out D line got held a lot.

I hope the OP stays tired of hearing about how great CMC is for a long time, as long as he is coaching the Cyclones.

I invite the OP to go to the FSU, Arkansas, and Missouri and tell them how bad Campbell is as a P 5 coach.

We did not get many bounces this year, but the skill players we have coming back next year should provide us entertaining football for the next couple of years.

In my 35 years of being a fan, no ISU coach has had a run like this. Yes he isn't always perfect but what coach is? If you are not happy with this staff at this point and where this program is overall that's a you problem. We all know the margin for error is small at ISU, and this season we were on the wrong side of that. This program is so far ahead of where it was 4 years ago. When he took over this program was close to falling into where Kansas is. At ISU you cannot just go out, make a few changes and go 9-3 every season, especially early in the process.

We really were a field goal and two point conversion away from playing for the big 12 title. Lot of these games could go either way.

Campbell is a young coach, he isn’t perfect and he isn’t a finished product.

In my entire life, the last few years are the only years where we are competitive with everyone. You watch us play Oklahoma, it’s not a physical mismatch like it has been since the late 70s

That’s huge progress, just have to keep knocking on the door, going to bowls, developing guys, and eventually it falls our way.

Can't say it much better than this. Some criticism of this year's performance is definitely warranted, but big picture we should all be ecstatic of where this program is.

Not everyone is a brainless whiner on here. Some of us actually understand big boy football. Most of those people are not the ones complaining like a toddler today.

The team all over is not fundamentally strong and that comes down to coaching...CMC said so himself so that's criticism and reflection. Win-win.

What is the average age of a poster on this board? The way some people on this board talk you'd think they're ISU undergrads who didn't pay attention to ISU football before then. We have a chance to win 8 games three years in a row and they want people fired holy ****.

I'm sorry, but the average pouting stomping and wailing from many posters here just does not qualify as cc.

Where did I say that it did? I'm saying a reasonable amount of criticism is fair game. I'm not making some blanket defense of everything anyone here has said.

Anytime something goes wrong CMC is going to put it square on his and the staffs shoulders.

To be honest with you, your spelling needs to get better. You're not being the best version of yourself. I kid, I kid.

I love Campbell and what he has done at ISU so far, and I think he will take this team even further, but I don't really like listening to him talk sometimes. He needs to hold the players accountable when they play a bad game rather than saying that it's on him. And maybe he does behind closed doors, I don't know. We are so close to being a great program but we have to start beating Iowa, winning the close games and playing more disciplined.

I think we will finally see a good amount of ISU kids go into the NFL and that will increase the recruiting even more.

I'm just waking up so if this post makes no sense, tough titty.
