Great game between Madrid and North Linn just now. I think Madrid was the better team in the box score in just about every statistical category except turnovers. Just gave the ball up way too much, other than that, hell of a game.
agreed. I didn't think Madrid would put up a fight. They have some nice players.

All schools that can go "recruit" kids in this way or similar should have their own class in Iowa and own State Tournament and should now be allowed to play anyone else!!
I don't think Iowa is big enough for this honestly. I do like the multiplier idea. Although Grandview at 2A probably doesn't matter either way.

What I hate about GV playing 1A is here is their path to get to tournament;

R1 - East Union
R2 - Earlham
R3 - Lenox
R4 - ACGC

I just couldn't picture myself a D1 athlete at 7' tall making a mix tape of me flexing on some farm kids in a town that is 890 people. Good for them though.

Way up there
Gvc will likely win but west Harrison isn't any fun to play against. Their bigs are really aggressive and physical.

Well … that’s every school in Iowa, since with open enrollment kids can actually go to any school district they want, they don‘t have to live within the district. (There are some exceptions with districts that are “full.”) Coaches/parents can “recruit” all they want, public or private. I know of several football players in the CR area who decided to enroll at Kennedy and play for them instead of Jefferson or Linn-Mar; I also know a kid from Vinton who played football for City High last fall.

Complaining about private schools is fine, I guess, but they don’t have the “recruiting” advantage over public schools that you think they do, not in Iowa.

I don't disagree that GVC had an easy path and count me in the camp that thinks they (and other parochial schools) should have to play at a higher class but I will say they play an very tough schedule during the reg season. I pulled the below info from BC Moore website.

Does anyone know if the Homan kid on Remson St Mary is related to former Cylone Jared Homan?

Here's my issue with them. My kids go to CR Wash, so I see it first hand with Xavier. The recruiting I can live with, it's the gaming of enrollment size with recruiting that pisses me off. Wash's enrollment is declining and they are essentially land locked. Open enrollment between public schools doesn't generally change numbers much. But Xavier has no geographic territory, and they can decide exactly who they want and who they don't want like a college does. They keep enrollment modest and dominate at that level. Xavier made it to the 4A football championship game and then dropped down to 3A the next season. Go watch Xavier's underclassman teams play other teams. They'll have twice as many players in many cases. Many of those kids would be playing higher at public schools.

It's not an easy issue to solve, I understand that, but parochial schools don't operate the same as public, so blanket treatment using enrollment doesn't work.

Bounderant farrar declined an invite to the Little Hawkeye. Seemed like a good fit as they and North Polk are going to grow out of the Racoon River

Norwalk will probably grow out of that conference. DCG might as well. Bodourant would be a good fit for that conference. Pella Chrisitan should probably go down and join a 2A or 3A conference.

Nothing against the kids playing at GVC. They're good players and probably good kids. It's just not fair putting them in 1A every year. There are good teams in 1A obviously, but it's rare to find teams that can match up against the kids GVC roll out on the court every season. I think putting them in 3 or 4A would be fine.

They purposely put average 1A teams in their substate bracket. That way the good 1A teams other than GVC could get to state. Or at least have a realistic chance. That being said, I hope West Harrison or North Linn beats them. I think it's possible. Heck New London gave them a fight.
