I know exposure is exposure that's what really counts, but how much would winning help for exposure? Do many younger kids watch the ESPYs?

I can only image the awesome speech CPR will give if we win!

It won't help anything. Winning the game is what helped, not an ESPY that no one outside Cyclone Nation gives a **** about.

I don't think many people care about the ESPY's tbh. Personally, if ISU wasn't up for an award I wouldn't watch. I'd probably check out the monologue on youtube the next day and that's about it.

Winning would be a nice bonus. I doubt it would have much impact. Didn't UNI basketball recently win one?

No kidding. An ESPY and a quarter will get you a bad cup of coffee.

I think it's a great exposure piece..the victory speaks for itself, but to have another moment (win or loose) to show the highlights, coach, etc, if nothing it exposes us to some who never would have seen us...and that helps.

Now, if we win, I hope Rhoads knocks the speech out of the park as well.

I'm already picturing the montage they do for nominees..some of the clips of the game, voice overs by the announcers "something special in the air in Ames, IA" "can you believe it?" etc, crowd hitting the field, locker room "I don't care if your black or white, rich or poor..."

Hope those two basketball upsets canceled each other out and the folks who hate the Dukies didn't overly vote for that one.

If we win the ESPY i hear CPR will be giving a shoutout to all of Cyclone Fanatic and specifically CysRage for his nonstop effort to get us to keep voting.

I'm sure this by itself won't have much of an impact but all positive exposure is good, and there are probably more sports nerds that watch the ESPY's than you realize.

I'm expecting him to stand up there and thank me before he thanks anyone else for making this award possible...even before the players and coaching staff :jimlad:

Getting exposure is never a bad thing but the ESPYs aren't exactly must see TV so it will have minimal impact. Plus just ask UNI how much it changed their program, they haven't exactly turned into a national powerhouse in basketball since then.

Two years ago; Best Upset for beating Kansas in the 2010 NCAA tournament.

ESPY's might ultimately and inherently be trite in and of themselves, but national exposure is never, ever a bad thing. UNI got a commitment from their (our) freshmen point guard last season, Deon Mitchell (Class of 2011), all the way from Texas, who said that he had never heard of UNI before they beat Kansas. I don't know if Deon watched that year's ESPY's or not, but it certainly didn't hurt in his recruitment.

And see what I posted just after you above . Mitchell's a good player, UNI probably wouldn't have gotten him if it weren't for the victory that led to that ESPY.

No one pays attention to the ESPY's. This will be the first one I have watched since the first season.
