Perhaps they could consider the Hawks. Then they could showcase the $3 million man.

The spokespeople from the rose bowl said last weeek that they would like to preserve the tradition of having a Big Ten and Pac-10 team playing. The amendment that they just made will make Illinios BCS Bowl Elegible. And I think that if it is an option, the Illini will be in the Rose Bowl. :skeptical:

The amendment only holds true if there are not 10 teams in the top 14 that will qualify. So if Hawaii or Bosie State climb enough in the rankings they will take the second spot the big ten could get.

This is true, but I don't think Boise will get there, even after they beat Hawaii this weekend.

If OSU makes it into the BCS championship, it will prove once again that the BCS is broke and needs to be fixed with a playoff.

why? because the only two solid one loss teams are in the NC game?

For OSU to get there, WVA will have to lose, as well as Missouri tomorrow and Kansas in the Big 12 championship game.

I still think OSU's odds of getting there are slim, but they do only have one loss. There really aren't any other BCS teams that can say that right now outside of WVA and Missouri.

I don't have a problem with them playing for the NC over every 2 loss team in the nation.

They'll get their butts handed to them, but it will really make the BCS' job pretty easy.

I think OSU going to the National Title game with 1 loss over some other two loss teams is a fine example of how awful the BCS is. If the same logic were applied to basketball it would've yielded title games in the past few years including George Washington and St Joe's and I don't think anyone would dispute that they were far from the best teams in the nation. Luckily for everyone involved, in that sport they decide the champion through a tournament.

In the case of a true football champion I could see a team that has progressed throughout the season like Georgia or perhaps even USC winning a playoff, but neither of them have a shot in the current system.

Sorry for the tangent, but if OSU makes the title game it just reiterates the absurdity of the BCS.

I thought last year showed how the BCS isn't viable. A zero loss tOSU team had no business in the NC game, but because of the BCS, they got there.

Here is another problem. Say KU beats mizzou, and then loses to OU in the championship game. KU loses to a top10 team where as OSU loses to a top 15 team. BCS sucks.

That's just how the polls work. An early loss hurts less than a late loss.

I don't know if OU will still be in the Top 10 at that point, but it's really splitting hairs. OSU lost to a 3 loss team, and KU lost to a 2 loss team. OSU probably has a slightly tougher schedule overall than KU, even playing in the Big 10 this year. I don't care how bad Washington is this year, at least they are a Pac-10 team.

I think either every BCS conference should have a championship or none should. KU and Mizzou have to play an extra game to get into the BCS championship game. If a Big Ten or Pac Ten team is ranked 1 or 2 at the end of the season it's almost like they have a bye into the game while teams from other conferences still have to win a playoff game.

It's the conference's decision how they want to do their championship. The Pac-10 has a true champion since everyone plays everyone else during the season. I don't have a problem with how they do it. The Big East can do this as well, since they only have 8 teams. The ACC SEC and Big 12 all need a championship game since not all the teams play each other every year. They also have an even number of teams they can split into two divisions.

The Championship game is really a self-inflicted wound, though. The Big 10 champ always will have an easier road to the BCS championship because of it.

don't you remember that it should have just been a rematch of osu against michigan for the natl championship last year? they were so much better then every other team in america, it would be unjust to not have 2 big 10 teams in the title game! right, and how did that work out? i think they both got their asses kicked. bcs stands for beauty contest series. they don't care who the best 2 teams are anymore-the integrity of the sport has been compromised a lot with all of the big time dollars that are getting thrown around now.
