I noticed the close-ups of Mulkey standing, whining and complaining all the time. Does she have hemorrhoids, or is she just a trailer trash beeotch.

I've never been a fan of her and after her comments about the Baylor football sexual assault scandal the other year that really put her on another level of dislike for me to be that blind to the issues on her campus and the cover-ups that happened within the athletic department and university she works for. What she said coming from a coach who coaches female athletes just sounded unsympathetic towards the victims and delusional to the fact there was a bad culture going on their campus that wasn't dealt with properly for a long time. I get annoyed with her interviews, she just seems arrogant and will not hesitate to ramble off her list of accomplishments. I get it, she apparently does a hell of a job recruiting to be able to pull off the kind of run she has had but something about her just never has rubbed me the right way.

I've always thought the opposite; WBB is a great example of fundamentals. I only have girls, but if I had sons, I'd have them watch WBB to see how it should be played. Dunking =/= fundamentals

I know CW hates this type of talk, but I hope the men's team has half the heart that the women did in OKC.

In terms of the way they rebound and move the ball I think you can be right. Baylor's game where perimeter shooting isn't considered really is like nothing I've seen in the last few decades of watching what I consider the best basketball. Even before the three point line perimeter shooting was usually a part of good basketball.

The average college player clanks an open 10-15 footer. The average below average shooter NBA pro makes it easily. Joe College Basketball Fan calls that "bad defense" in a total fallacy that college players play better defense than NBA players, along a lot of other things they can't mathematically process.

My point though...and I don't think this can't be argued against...is that when you have the absolute best, longest, fastest, strongest, biggest athletes the three point shot is becoming MORE common. Yet here in women's college hoops the talent distribution is so out of whack that the best team can get by without taking any 3s.

I know even less about WNBA than I do about women's college hoops but I'm guessing the best team in the WNBA always has 3 point shooting as part of their strategy because the size and talent is probably more evenly distributed.

This is dumb and not even close to being true.

I think you'd probably have to be more of an NBA fan to notice. Of course it varies from team to team, Fred's teams I barely noticed the offense and shooting being horrific. Most college teams are absolutely horrible shooting the ball compared to bad NBA teams.

Again my point is when the players are the strongest, fastest, longest and best...the three point shooting is increasing. Here you have a #1 rated team that finds it's in its best interest to not take 3s. I doubt WNBA champs don't take 3s, I imagine it's a big part of the WNBA.

I watch plenty of NBA. They are very skilled at 17-20 foot jumpers. Once again, your conclusion that NBA players are better than college players isn't groundbreaking analysis, and your assertion that average college players clank open 10-15 footers is flat-out wrong. You do know that a 10-footer is five feet inside the free throw line, right?

I'm gonna give the OP a break on his title of this thread - but I wanted to point out that I didn't watch the Twister Sisters "GO DOWN" to BU. That's what KSU did to BU - never was a ballgame after the first quarter. What I saw last night was the TWISTER SISTERS FIGHTING VALIANTLY against BU. Yes, we lost but, man, for 3.5 quarters it was a thing of beauty!

An ISU fan said it bothered him that I used cursive, so I changed the font. I like this crowd (for the most part) and don't want that to distract the chatter.

Tough crowd on Cyclonefanatic.

I also agree with kentkel that the title of your thread could be a little more positive..

Carry on..

Honestly, that's why I don't like WBB. It's great to have an exciting team that plays hard. But, when you run into a top team like Baylor, UCONN, ND, Stanford, it's no contest because they are just too big and physical. Unless you have elite size, you have pretty much no chance of winning when you run into those teams. At least on the men's side, you may get beat by someone like Duke that has extreme size and skill, but at least you know that you aren't playing against a team that is 4" taller across the board AND quicker. That's like ISU playing a good G-League team.

Whether it's lack of depth of talent nationally or no players leaving early for the pros, it's kind of disheartening to know that whenever you run into one of these teams, you can play well and still lose by 20 and the only chance of staying close is to hit a bunch of threes. I'm glad ISU has a fun team, but it's tough to be a diehard fan when you know it's just a matter of time until you run into a UCONN in the tournament.

Can someone explain why there is such disparity in WBB both in-conference and nationally? Is it just that there are not enough talent girls in high school, that has to be it? I mean even Texas is fading. K-State's working at it, but gosh. Ku hasn't been good for decades.

ISU played their collective butts off, but for me, it seemed the game outcome was never in question. BU has two trees in the middle that the Cyclones just couldn't get around.

F*ck you Surly ISU been better in WBB than KState for quite a while. There are 2 elite teams in WBB UConn annd Baylor right now then teams like SCarolina, Louisville,
Stanford. We had been good then were bad and now maybe we might be recruiting well enough to be respectable again.

Teams at the top stock pile AA's like cordwood. You've got to have a great game to beat them.

Womens basketball in my opinion is terrible. Women have other sports that take a lot of the talent like Volleyball, Soccer, Softball and many others. Womens basketball is boring as hell, The fundamentals are terrible, No dunking. It's just not interesting. It's like watching a game that is just not as good. Other womens sports are pretty good, like soccer and Volleyball because they can play the same game as the men.

So basically the talent pool in womens basketball is not that good compared to men which makes it unequal. Not to mention that the game has not evolved. It's like UCLA back in the day. The talent was all at UCLA. Wooden was not a great coach. He had the best players and the rest of the talent was spread all over the place. BTW Wooden cheated his ass off also.

Yeah our Women's team has been so much harder to watch than our men's team this yr:rolleyes:.

I'd say Notre Dame is probably in that elite conversation with UConn and Baylor.

I don't believe the comparison was or should be K-State but thanks for the vulgar explanation nonetheless. It added a new "wrinkle" to an otherwise interesting thread. o_O

I've seen some really terrible women's basketball, some of it even played by Iowa State over the years. But I've also seen some really terrible men's basketball as well. We don't really need another person who finds women's basketball boring telling us they find it boring. Yawn. Personally, I find dunking boring. It's two points, no matter what. I'd rather have a 3. You're entitled to your opinion, Knownothing. (I'll just leave it at that final sentence.)

Totally personal opinion I would put them in that next level with Stanford etc.. But I sure wouldn't go to war over it.
