Harsh? I think not. You can sit with him in the cheap seats and ***** about Mac Kyle. I have no stomach for all the ******** and moaning that I hear every year in the stands questioning every call and acting like ISU is disappointed with everything less than perfection. I was just as heart broken by not taking that next step, but look what where we have come and where there is to go. You can't honestly tell me that Mac is an average coach and that just as many guys could do the same job.

Whooooaooaaaaaa, chill-ax dude. We were all disappointed in the losses, and we've all sit by guys who complain after every play. I sat by a guy that complained as a play was unfolding, he would just be whining as soon as the ball was handed off to Stevie, and still would have something to say about it even if he got a good gain off of it. I know, it sucks.

Mac has done a great thing in resurrecting ISU, and I don't think many people could have done it, you have to have Mac-esque optimism and enthusiasm.

All of that being said, he should have won one of those games against clearly inferior opponents. I can't point to one, two or even three things I would have changed in those games, because I'm not a coach, and I have no idea how to run an effective team outside of NCAA 2006.

1. Message board concerns are a far cry from the guy complaining in the stands.

2. Are you not disappointed with blowing two games two years in a row for the North title against inferior opponents?

A few years back, my wife's Company picnic was at the Mgr.'s house in Highlands Ranch Colorado. (This area is known as Yuppie-ville, all of these houses are on the $400,000 range and look identical but people can't afford window coverings..go figure) so the Mgr's. wife is from Des Moines and we tell her we are from Iowa, and I went to Iowa State and immediately she blurts out. '' Oh you went to Moo-U.'' I came right back with: ''Now you know why Iowa State can't stand obnoxious Hawkeye fans and their mentality.'' She was caught off guard and tried to say her Dad has season tickets since Before Christ and what loyal fans they are for the Hawkeyes but she knew I got her good. My motto is: Don't stoop down to their level, just have a quick comeback, and be level headed because some of these fans are beyond comprehension.....HITMAN

We just need a breakout season. DESPERATELY. Pure and simple. Do that, and all of sudden recruits start paying attention to us, and then maybe we can get the most out of a majority of 4 star guys rather than 2 star guys, not to knock on them at all, because they do a good job. Aside from extra money and more attention period...

It isn't that I hate Mac, but I agree with Cybot. What has he done, ISU's football budget while still pathetically low for a D 1 program in a major conference, however ISU has pumped a great deal of money into the program, and Mac has yet to take the next step. If this isn't the year, then I don't know how many more chances that we can afford to give him.

I don't see why Iowa fans insult us with Moo U. Is it a problem that ISU has an agricultural college? I am pretty sure that lots of people in Iowa have jobs that deal with agriculture.

No kidding, I dont know one iowa fan whose job or livelyhood in general is not affected directly by agriculture. It doesnt make sense.

I saw something recently that shows the Univ. of Iowa is second only to Ohio State for the amount of money spent for a Div. I football program. I think Iowa fans have a right to be infuriated with a 7-5 record with the Return on Investment they are getting. It even helps me to understand their obsession with Iowa State. Who doesn't want to know how the other guy is able to do so much with so little.

Since time immemorial, the term 'Hawkeye fan' has been synonomous with 'dickhead'. Like armies of cockroaches, their numbers are overwhelming. How can they be defeated? I like to whine about these jerkoffs just as much as the next guy, but we can actually do a few things to get them where it really matters -- the scoreboard. If these clowns don't have anything to live vicariously through, they'll eventually shut up. That's where we come in.

All we can really do is dig deep to help Pollard with this project, whether it's an extra $50 or an extra $5000. Also, we can go to the games and yell our arses off to help the Clones.

ISUFan22 has done something simple, yet remarkable. In the past, he has invited people to ISU games that had never gone before. I think there are now 4 new season ticket holders, all because ISUFan22 had taken the initiative to invite people to the games.

I have taken my nephew, who is now 12 to some games when he was younger. He's now a fan for life. He's always decked out in cardinal and gold even though his family is Iowa fans.

All of these are ways in which we can help the athletic department, which ultimately chips away at the demonic transe that the University of Iowa has on this state.

I'm sorry if I ruffled a few feathers in regards to Coach Mac but I'm not buying the spin any more. Did you realize that Mac's record in the Big 12 is 25-54. Maybe it will take posting some more FACT's as to way I think ISU can and will do better with a new coach.

Lets just look at the last 7 years because we all know Mac's first 4 years don't count because we had the worst team in the nation sez most of his supporters.

1999 1-7
2000 5-3 The proverbial 'high water' mark for Mac at ISU
2002 4-4
2003 0-8
2004 4-4
2005 4-4

Lets look at Macs best year 2000
we were 5-3 in big 12 conference play including wins against Baylor(2-9), Okie State(3-8), Mizzou(3-8), Colorado(3-8), and Kansas(4-7). Plenty of quality wins there. Wait, no Texas(9-2), Oklahoma(12-0) or Tech(7-5) on the schedule? But we did beat a 3-9 Iowa team. We ended up beating an unranked Pitt team in the Insight.com Bowl.

Don't get me wrong, I love going to bowl games but I feel we could have done so much more these past 2 seasons and we blew it the last game of both seasons. We had the talent to do so much. My God Baylor! Time for new blood.

zdorr is correct...we've converted part-time fans to full-time season ticket holding fans over the last couple years. Simply by buying a couple extra season tickets up front...taking a new pair of friends each game and having them bring the food. Takes care of our extra cost of the tickets plus - it's more fun to attend games with 4 than 2. We've got our sights set on converting a few others this fall too!

Why hate Iowa so? I can see it on the eve of the big game...but otherwise...why the fuss? So they've got a good football program? Good for them...seriously.

But why dwell on them? Don't we have our own Division I, Big 12 conference football team right here? I'd like to think we'd pay more attention to them than the Hawks or anyone else for that matter.

Yet the Hawks seems to always be in the forefront of many, many fans thoughts.

Meh...we've had their number lately...there are bigger and better things to be had...

We actually have a 2004 Iowa graduate that has season football tickets with us. It can be done.

Let them think what they want. We all know better. And when "little brother" kicks big brother's ***, it makes it tough for them to handle. The higher the pedestal they put themselves on the bigger the fall.

I had an encounter with an Iowa fan this weekend that I found interesting, if only in the name of science. My wife's friend's husband is a loud UI fan that didn't even go there. When he discovered I was an ISU fan, he was frustrated and unable to comprehend how anyone could be an ISU fan. "Why would you like Iowa State?" he asked me.

Clearly he's another one of these guys that still thinks it's 1989 and ISU is some sort of second rate mid-major or something. They just don't get it.

If you ever run into a problem with an iowa fan just say Go Buckeyes and that tends to just make them shut up.

Whenever I have a problem encounter with a Hawk fan, I don't tip them when they are delivering my pizza. If they do it again, I call there boss at the pizza joint and can usually get a free pizza or something out of them that hopefully is paid by the Cockroach hawk fan.......:D
