I know why CFH is not wearing ties this year on the sidelines!

Can you feel your tie putting some light pressure on your neck when you put it on? If not, it's not tight enough. And if yes, it's adding some constriction to your blood vessels, forcing your heart to work a little harder. Makes perfect sense for a guy with heart issues to not wear a tie in the situations where he would experience the most stress (like being down by 20 points at home to Oklahoma after losing two straight).

I'm hoping that you aren't being serious in any fashion.

ok, I'm not a physician and will bow out of this conversation, but before I do... considering hundreds of thousands of humans over the course of time have suffered heart attacks, you'd think that if there were any significant link to the common necktie and heart health, it would be EVERYWHERE...and it's not. For example, my grandfather, my boss and various other folks I've known who have suffered heart related issues and who have NEVER been told to stop wearing their ties.

Let's allow someone with some real credentials, not just the CF PHd., to comment. :)

do any of you wear ties on a regular basis? my guess is no...if you have a tie on to such a point that it's causing your heart stress, you've got no idea how to tie a tie. Allow me to help...there are many ways to tie a tie...

Notice that none of them include "super tight so that you pass out or stress your heart".

Thanks for posting this. I decided to mix it up this morning and tie a trinity knot in honor of St. Paddy's Day.

Here...I solved the issue...let's all chip in and get one made for Fred...and buy about 5,000 of them for the tournament.

I think the "ISU in the AP top 25 = no tie" theory makes the most sense when you consider Fred's tweet about almost having to wear a tie again after the final home game against Oklahoma (we were #17 at the time). I mean, we've been ranked all season and he hasn't worn a tie all season, right? I know he hasn't for the conference season at least, but can't remember if he did or not for the non-con. Anyway, seems like a plausible theory.

My grandma called me to tell me this Saturday after we won and I called ********.

If it's known he's getting his valve replaced, and he's made it publicaly known and Musburger is talking about it, than I'm sure he wouldn't be afraid to mention that when asked about the necktie.

What about the theory about Hoiberg sending a message to Diallo (who allegedly didn't like to wear ties at his prep school)? Everytime Diallo sees Hoiberg during a game or a replay, Hoiberg is telling him that he is welcome here!

Okay, you forced me to do it. I went back and looked at each of the Hoiberg post-game pressers. The last game where he wore a tie was Maryland. It was gone for Lamar. During the presser he was talking about the team being in a funk/slump up through the Maryland game, lacking confidence, and we broke out of it in the second half of the Lamar game. That's why I think it's a "cultural" statement about playing loose and free.

Holy ****, this is gonna be one long offseason

No ****. The season is still going on and we have a heart issues thread and a Hoiberg to the Bulls thread.

If they need to raise money for a Hoiberg raise, they could probably charge each of us $25 a month for a daily email from 'Hoiberg' telling us that he is happy and healthy.

At first, I thought it might be a variation of "strip poker" in which he took off a clothing item after a loss, but he didn't keep taking more things off.

Thanks for taking the time to look into that. Much appreciated.

This also seems like a very plausible theory, maybe even moreso than the AP Top 25 theory since we've been ranked all season (including the non-con). The timing seems to certainly be a major factor in it, at any rate.

Where can I sign up for this? Can we email Pollard about this?

That is about right for recovery time. I'm three weeks out from having my aortic valve repaired and I'm 31. Feeling pretty good, a little weak and still have restrictions of not lifting things but otherwise, everything is great. It is amazing what they are able to do and how quickly we recover from it.

I hope you have a speedy recovery but it takes a lot of balls to have this type of surgery with the way the team has been playing. If I was you I would only be able to watch replays once I know the outcome. Hell, I even get tensed up watching replays when I know we are going to win! Somehow while watching I get that "kick in the nuts" feeling that we will end up losing even though I know we won't.

I thought it was because Diallo was dating a girl name Tie and she broke his heart?
