Heart and Determination were two of the great traits about last years team. They came back from some vary large deficits and never gave up (Kansas game not included, no clue what happened there). T Tech jumped out to a 21-0 lead, NU came back and could have/should have won. Missouri jumped out early all over 24-7, NU came back and tied it at half time. OU jumped out early, but NU came back and made a game of it. Michigan was leading in the 4th quarter 28-17, but NU gritted out a tough win.

I will take the higher rated players all the time. Winter conditioning, spring ball, and the summer is when championships can be won. Callahan has run a tight ship so far and our S&C program seems to have returned. Good luck all year except for 10/7.

I never said that I would not take higher rated players, but I also understand most of the 4-5 star players do not find Iowa State as a "sexy" (for lack of a better word) school. Getting a bunch of kids that have lots of upside is what we get right now. We have a bunch of Blue Collar kids that work hard to get better.

NU fan, I dont care how many JUCO #1's you have, I dont care how tall the guy gaurfding blythe will be or how fast he will be. He could be 7'8" for all I care! Blythe is gonna be up and down all day on 10/7. And if its not him, it will be flynn, and if its not him, it will be Sumrall, and if its not him it will be Davis (if hes back for injury), and if its not him it will be Messiah, and if its not him it will be Marquis Hamilton, and if its none of these guys then you are much deeper in the DB then you give them credit for because one if not many of these guys will have huge games and you wont be able to stop it with the "top JUCO CB." And if we get -20 rushing yards all game, our passing game will keep us in arms length. Yes your guys are good on the DL but Bret Meyer is good enugh to get a pass off. It will be a high scoring game.

We'll have to see how the season goes. Good luck on 10/7. May the best team win.

By the way, I asked on another thread and no one answered. Is Eboh more of a run stopper, or speed rusher? What are his measurables?

Callahan's tight ship is starting to leak recruits - two in three days: Culbert and Jones. One went to jail and one will not be making an appearnace in Lincoln. Culbert went from 3 stars to no stars after his Eugene, Oregon (UO), recruiting visit with that friendly gal. No wonder he opted for Lincoln - he was in trouble in Eugene.

Eboh is 6'3 250 and is a speed rush end. His fresman year he saw solid minutes as a #2 DE, and at the time he weighed 230. Coaches have said he has a non stop motor and is always around the ball.

honestly, not to make you feel unwelcome, because that isn't my purpose....but you have the same amount of blind arrogance that all husker fans have. i'm from miami, went to school at isu, and live in omaha. i have come to find that 90% of husker fans never went to college there and think that the entire world revolves around husker football. they will argue with anyone to the death to try and convince them that nebraska is the new jesus christ. from what you have said, nebraska has no weaknesses and we are all idiots for being iowa state fans....here is the deal, i spent 4 years of my life in ames. i went to every home game at JT and the hilton. if iowa state never wins another game for the rest of my life i will still bleed cardinal and gold. that is the difference between husker fans and iowa state fans....

Spreaking of arrogance, Almighty Steve Pederson the well loved Nebraska AD, today turned down a national appearance on Fox Sports Network Sunday night at 6 on Labor Day weekend between Nebraska and Louisiana Tech. This was a shocker to Redlands fans because everyone had the next day or Monday off, Nebraska only played a Nichols State triple option team the next week, and weather would have been great in Lincoln at night. Great recruiting advantage as only Nascar would be on the other channels. Real football fans just watch football. So Fox is looking for a game as of today.

This opens the possibility that Fox might go after the Iowa State-Toledo game. That actually is a more interwsting game. Cross your fingers and that Thursday game might go to Sunday night. We do want the exposure for Brett Meyer and Todd.

Bossr,

Steve P. really tore apart the fanbase with the firing of Frank Solich, but I wouldn't trade him for anyone else. He has made many decisions that I really like, including the firing of Solich. He has trimmed the Athletic departments budget by 10%, improved facilities with the near completion of the $50 million construction project on the stadium, another indoor practice facility, 6,500 additional seats in Memorial (which they had 14,000 requests for). Those 6,500 seats and luxery(??) suites will bring in close to half or 1/3 of what you will make in total at Jack Trice.

This is a big year for Pederson and Callahan. IF the season is successful, ie 9 or 10 wins, everyone will start to realize that Pedey made the right decision and then the money will really start following into the program.

Have I agreed with everything he's done, of course not. He's not good at the PR standpoint, which Pollard is great at. I wish we could improve in basketball, but that's a completely different topic for another day.

Heard that the fund raising is pretty on hold as no major corporate sponsors or individuals are stepping to the plate since the previous weight trainer made his impassioned plea for money. Has NU collected the final donations for $50M in stadium improvements, NU follower?

Taylor picked apart our zone and giving them a cushion last year. i'd rather man them straight up and make him thread it...all he did was throw under last year and then get 15 yd gains

Being from Omaha and now healthy, Hicks will especially want to run it up in Trice Stadium against the Huskers.

By the way, Huskers just announced signing 6-6 Jared Crick, 245#, 4.8 DE out of little Cozad. They figured they couldn't wait until their summer football camp in porder to check him out. They quickly made their in state offer as Jared already had solid scholarship offers from ISU, Kansas, KSU, Ohio and others. Ne had already been burned twice this year by Miami and ISU.

Guess the Husker are getting scared they need to early recruit their little towns now. It used to be just a Big Red walkon for the Jared Cricks of the world.

We will use better intro music, blare the tornado siren, and bring the bad weather into Trice Stadium. Nebraska will fumble on their first possession and our speedy linebackers will take it in for a score. Todd Blythe will catch two long touchdown passes against their smaller defenders. Stevie Hicks will go the distance for the screen pass. Brandon Machine will punch one in from tyhe two. Zac Taylor will pass for three touchdowns and five interceptions and the Cyclones will prevail 35-21. What do you think NU Fan?

He still thinks Nebraska has a shot at the national title.

Another one for NUFan: Here is how Bill Callahan of NE thinks: he is now using body core temperature sensors on his players - the computer will say when they overheat: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=ncf&id=2480010

Clones do not need sensing devices to tell people when they are HOT.

I don't know why you would make fun of Nebraska for looking out for their players safety during summer workouts.

And yes, I stand behind my statement that Nebraska has a shot at the National Title. Not a great shot, but as I stated before, NU catches a talented but young and inexperienced USC team early in the year. NU hosts Texas and they are breaking in a new QB. And NU should be favored in the rest of their games this year. Do I think NU will go undefeated? No, but it is possible. I'm thinking 9-3 to 11-1 regular season.

Good luck this year.
