And he did it a few times. Pete and Eric got excited but not how you would expect because they had seen it all before with Mel.I will never forget watching him dribble the ball right between the legs of those who attempted to guard him. I have never seen anyone like that in my life!!! He was virtually impossible to stop!
The pass the Tinsley made on that play was incredible. ISU was inbounding the ball just past half court, down by one, with less than a second left in the game. Tinsley zips a ball to Martin Rancik who is cutting toward the basket. Martin catches a perfect pass as he is leaping toward the rim and lays it in for the win. The Bob Devany center was stunned.Anyone hear Jake's story about the end of game during the last second win against Nebraska. It was amazing! Paraphrasing, but the conversation started on the Fanatics Monday Rebound show talking about how different coaches coached, and if they all prepared inbounds plays the same. Essentially Jake said that Eustachy hated practicing inbounds plays and was terrible at it.
Jake said at the end of the Nebraska game they were all in the huddle and Eustachy drew up some crazy play. Afterwards all the players huddled up on the court and Tinsley said " I don't know what the **** that was. Here's what we're going to do" and proceeded to call the game winning play in the huddle. Jake said Eustachy was so excited he didn't even realize they hadn't run the play he had drew up. Freeking amazing, and a little telling about Eustachy as a coach.
I'll always remember his confidence. Tinsley was always the best player on the court, he knew it, and also showed that he knew it. For example, I'll never forget the level of annoyance he would always show on his face any time a defender came up to press him. His facial expression was always that of Dude, you know who I am? I'm Jamaal Tinsley B, get off me!!! Then, he'd proceed to burn them every time and also make sure to do it in a way that made them look really stupid.
