Dude was a complete stud on defense.
I answered school of hard knocks for the Juco just for fun.

Mad skills comment / half court shot was indeed Jacquay Walls. Sent the game into OT. Been in CO for 20 years so was at the game. Likely the loudest the Coors Event Center has ever been. Wish CU was still in the Big 12.

Had the honor of seeing him play live a couple of times.

I don't recall it as much his junior year but his spin move and ability to keep separation on the way to the hoop was the go to his senior year and was incredible.

I remember Jamaal Tinsley and Marcus Fizer winning out first regular season title in many years and then after Fizer left for the NBA....winning the 2nd regular season title then collapsing at Kansas City and Boise Idaho.....Starting point guard for the Indy Pacers for awhile....One of the greatest point guards ever at ISU......

Anyone hear Jake's story about the end of game during the last second win against Nebraska. It was amazing! Paraphrasing, but the conversation started on the Fanatics Monday Rebound show talking about how different coaches coached, and if they all prepared inbounds plays the same. Essentially Jake said that Eustachy hated practicing inbounds plays and was terrible at it.

Jake said at the end of the Nebraska game they were all in the huddle and Eustachy drew up some crazy play. Afterwards all the players huddled up on the court and Tinsley said " I don't know what the **** that was. Here's what we're going to do" and proceeded to call the game winning play in the huddle. Jake said Eustachy was so excited he didn't even realize they hadn't run the play he had drew up. Freeking amazing, and a little telling about Eustachy as a coach.

I'll always remember his confidence. Tinsley was always the best player on the court, he knew it, and also showed that he knew it. For example, I'll never forget the level of annoyance he would always show on his face any time a defender came up to press him. His facial expression was always that of Dude, you know who I am? I'm Jamaal Tinsley B, get off me!!! Then, he'd proceed to burn them every time and also make sure to do it in a way that made them look really stupid.

IMO, he Is the best player ever to where an ISU jersey. Winning the Big 12 his senior year after Fizer bolted early for the NBA is remarkable.

Jeff Grayer was, and is, the answer to that question.

But Mal Mal impacted winning more than any other player in the history of this place. People still think Larry was 20x’s the coach he actually was because of Tinsley.

I’ve watched college basketball in person for 40 years, more than 30 at ISU. I have never seen a player with Tinsley’s skills.

He made an indescribable play once against the Fuskers at Hilton his senior year. While dribbling, the ball left his hand, spun out a couple feet and came back to him like a yo-yo. I asked my son Dan what did he just do?

“I think he just passed the ball to himself,” Dan said.
