How Many ISU fans in the stands at CCG

One note, I requested and received tickets through ISU, and the email confirming tickets said if you need more, go ahead and order more. I think ISU's initial allotment was 6K for cyclone club members, so we either didn't max that out, Clones are getting tickets from other sources, or Iowa State requested and received additional tickets.
I did not buy through ISU for the Alamo Bowl or Cheezit Bowl. I did for the 2020 CCG. This last batch of tickets, which I received Friday morning, were $200 a seat, and when they showed up I could buy similar seats for $50. It makes me not want to buy from ISU next time. I sure hope Iowa State was getting them for less than $50 or they got hosed too.

Probably an either/or deal.

Save money and time to go to the playoff game or bowl game, which ever it is.

What was the cost to go to Dallas for the weekend including hotels for one person? $1000?

Then do it again in two to three weeks?
For us it was less than that. About $600/family member (4 of us) with $320 of that the ticket. Drove down Friday & back after the game. Had a great time, other than the loss. A few obnoxious ASU fans, but most we encountered were decent.

How long of a drive? Does that include gas, food, hotel?

Yes, 9:50 minute drive from Iowa. Our room at the SpringHill suite had 2 queen beds. Slept 4 of us. Filled up 3 times on the way down & 2 last night. Spent $200 at Tx Live Friday night. Breakfast at the hotel & ate at Buc eee’s on the way home!

The Cyclones repped! So did the Sun Devils. Lots of local no-shows with no Texas team in the game + Texas in the SEC CCG + SMU in the ACC CCG that day.

Having just returned I have some meaningless opinions to share, and where else is better suited for me to offer those:

-not a great showing from ISU fans as far as numbers were concerned
-ASU brought more than I expected, and they had much better energy (so I'm not being critical of only the ISU fans who failed to show up), even at 9 a.m. at Texas Live
-spicy take alert, Jerry World sucks. Most of the seats are far from the action. I could think of a few stadiums in Big 12 country where I would prefer to watch a game over that place.
-as for the game, ASU was more physical and deserved to win. Skattebo was the best player on the field, obviously. And turnovers/big plays (again obviously) win/lose games.

I thought we outnumbered them, but not by much. They definitely had more energy even before the game. I agree Jerry world sucks. We had endzone seats and came in by the opposite endzone. Instead of a concourse going all the way around, we had to go up to the third level, travel around and them back down. I’ve never seen anything like that poor design. Also, ASU fans are trash. Random people getting up in your face. A guy below us was running his mouth all game and had to be separated from an ISU fan who had had enough. Security was really close to ejecting him but instead watched him the rest of the game motioning to him to quit talking and antagonizing. He couldn’t do it. They are a trash fan base.

I get that, but this WAS a playoff game for both of us. I personally don’t understand how someone would want to wait for the next round when there might not be a next round
There were a ton of fans from both ISU and ASU at the game. The empty seats were due to lack of local support (no Texas team + 2 Texas teams in other CCGs that day). Plus, on the local news on Friday Night, they previewed the upcoming (Saturday) SEC CCG (w / Texas), the upcoming ACC CCG (w / SMU) on Satuday and the Cowboys game on Monday without even a mention of the Big XII CCG. Personally, I think the Big XII should move the CCG to Las Vegas. They just do not care in Dallas.

I think the venue is also to big. Lots of people are making fun of asu/b12 about not filling it.

The place holds 80k and up to 105k standing.

Most the nfl stadiums are high 60s to low 70s k

Also what’s with all the TCU fans talking **** about attendance isn’t this stadium like 15 mins from their campus?

It appeared to me (and the ASU fan next to me) that Iowa State had twice as many fans as ASU. We were looking carefully trying to estimate percentages and agree it was about 65/35 maybe 70/30 in favor of Iowa State.

We went to Dallas in 2020, but we couldn’t make it this time around due to kids activities. It also hurt not knowing until 6 days before either. Harder to plan.

read an article by Athlon sports and they just crucified the Big 12 for not filling up the stadium. If both teams sold their tickets and more then there was no local support? I also can not stand Athlon sports as all they do is dish on ISU and the Big 12.

ISU fans probably outnumbered ASU but not by a ton. 30k-25k maybe? I’m not sure where all the ASU fans came from because I saw very few of them out in the lots before the game. Was kind of disappointed with the ISU turnout, but considering the way the game went it’s tough to blame anyone in hindsight.

Closest comp I have to anything for ASU fans is LA Dodger fans, just not a super knowledgeable bunch based off of the group that was sat near me. Also a surprisingly arrogant bunch (but they did pimp slap us so maybe it was well deserved)

Going to go against the grain here, but I think Jerryworld rocks. It’s just so big that even a decent crowd looks like nothing. My only gripe is that you can’t walk around the stadium without going to the 400 level and then back down.

I think attendance probably wasn't that bad. The venue was just big. If literally half the ISU fans traveled from Jack Trice, and half the ASU fans attended who normally go to games in Tempe, the stadium still would have looked empty.

I read the Athlon article at the airport on my way home. It is totally off the mark. Both Iowa State an Arizona State had more fans at the game than the 8,000 tickets alloted to each team. My guess is that there were at least 15,000-20,000 fans from each team which is very good considering short notice, etc. Like I said, next to no local support at this game.

Arrowhead.
Do not want weather to be an issue and drive down attendance even more. If the Game yesterday would have been outside (40s and drizzly), we would have even a smaller crowd. Plus, Las Vegas is a smaller venue in a FUN and EASY place to visit. Arrowhead is a pain, etc. IMO. Yesterday's game would have been probably been a sellout in Vegas, and we wouldn't have this negative crap today about the crowd. I just want it out of Arlington. Heck, San Antonio would be a GREAT place to have it to. Just my onion.
