Getting ready to crack open my first bottle ever of Templeton Rye (was going to for game last night but my nerves and excitement for the game made me forget I even had it). Anyhow, what do you think is the best way to drink it... I've heard with 7 Up and straigth on ice. Any other suggestions for CyclONE Nation?

First one ever? Straight.
Then Templeton (still straight) and Guinness.
If you have to have it on the rocks, the above is right: keep those cubes to a minimum.
If you want to experience the flavor, on the rocks (not many ice cubes) or neat. I wouldn't mix it with anything but maybe a touch or so of water.
I've heard people who mix with Soda's, I won't condemn that, but you could honestly get the same flavor as a whiskey and 7 with a lot less expensive bottle. I just think if you mix whiskey and soda, you don't really like the taste of whiskey all that much.

I live in WYOMING so I can't drink it. However Wyoming Whiskey (which is 15 miles from me) will start bottling in December. 
Ditch the 7up and mix it with ginger ale. Very refreshing and perfectly subtle. Ice is also acceptable. I'm drinking Cedar Ridge and ginger ale today. Great switch up from the unhealthy amounts of beer I usually drink during the first weekend of the tournament.
I'm a gulper, not a sipper when it comes to adult beverages. If I DIDN'T mix it I'd only be awake for about 2 hours before becoming comatose. On the other hand, I could just take shots every 20-30 minutes and drink beer to fill the void.you have to drink it either 'Neat' or 'On the Rocks'.
No alternatives, do NOT mix it!
