Hockaday To Miss Remainder of Season

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior Rachel Hockaday will miss the remainder of the 2010 season after suffering a season-ending knee injury during last Saturday’s season opener against Florida. Hockaday, an outside hitter from Decatur, Ill., is scheduled to undergo surgery on her left knee on Sept. 22.

From the ISU article, they will pursue a medical redshirt.

I don't know VB medical redshirt rules, but I feel confident in saying that one would be rewarded (guessing rules similar to FB and Bb; play less than 30% of games at beginning of season, and not return for the rest of season). RH would have played in 1 out of an estimated 30 matches, so about 3% played.

Furthermore, not even half of the 1st GAME of those 30 matches.

Henson played in six matches as a freshman and received a redshirt, so it should be an easy decision on Rachel.
