I need an easy class to help boost the GPA, fill out the spring schedule, and get me to full-time status.

Time wise, History 202: Introduction to Western Civilization II fits my schedule perfectly. I'm just wondering if anyone has taken this class and how easy it might be?

John Monroe and Lawrence McDonnell are the two instructors to choose from that are teaching this class next semester.

Thanks in advance.

222 is probably an easier class for you if it fits. It's a survey to US history course that teaches you everything you learned in high school. I had Courtwright and she is pretty borning but the class was simple. Whereas Western Civ would be a little bit more complicated content wise. Although I don't know anything about the 202 professors.

Just like any history class, do some reading and know how to BS thru a blue book.

I took that class back in 1996. Got an A.

Take it with Monroe. It's a really easy class as long as you pay attention. Plus the guy is pretty animated and makes it a fun time.

Took that back in 2006 or 2007 with John Monroe. I really enjoyed him as a professor as he is definately one who loves history. Of course, I'm sort of a history buff as well. I wouldn't say its easy, but if you read the books and study before the tests its not too bad. Lectures were usually interesting, but I didn't care for the smaller class where you had to read chapters from a smaller book and discus. The reading was always written back in the day and is tough to read (at least for me).

Since you're a journalism student, I don't think it'll be a problem. As an engineering student, I hated the history classes because I was not used to writing essays. That, and I was not used to writing that much by hand so my hand always cramped up about 10 minutes into the exams.

I took 202 with McDonnell my last semester (Fall '10) and it was pretty straightforward. He's a good lecturer that makes things interesting, although he occasionally runs a little long. The tests aren't bad, usually a few pretty straightfoward multiple choice/short answer type questions and an essay. As long as you can make a point and back it up, you'll be fine.

Signed up for 202 with Monroe today. Kind of looking forward to it. I have taken many history courses, but I have never taken a civilization course.

Like 221, I have also taken 222. I actually have taken enough courses for a history minor. I just haven't declared as a history minor (or possibly a major) yet.

History major here. In my pursuit of my history degree, I was also able to implicate new technology in my studies, and with these skills, I went on to receive a Master's in Urban Planning. The extensive research and writing skills I acquired during my time as an undergrad more than prepared me for my work today, which is well above this "minimum wage for life" that you have falsely identified with a History degree. I don't think I'd be working independently without the analytical skills benefited to me by my studies.

So there.

And I was looking forward to failing, I mean, grading, your exams, too. Shoot.
