I feel like this, "Texas Tech is vastly improved" ******** coming from their fans is something I've read before. Multiple years in a row actually. Usually comes to a head after they finish playing their consistently weak OOC schedule. Already looking forward to the chest thumping next year after Tommy Tubbs and pals drop an 84 point bomb on the National Institute for the Blind and follow it up with a curb stomping of a team made up wheel chair stricken pre-teens from the local YMCA.

"I'm telling ya'll, Eric Ward is lee-git. Yeah that kid was only 12 and has a bad case of polio, but big deal, those are some serious hops and body control."

Texas Tech may very well be improved and could come into Ames and drop the hammer, but until they start playing anyone at all in the OOC, it's going to continue to be impossible to tell prior to the B12 season if they are any good or not.

It makes me wonder what is in the water in Lubbock, it also makes me want some. Seriously, send me a few gallons of your water.

You guys are going to prison rape our football team. We have no chance at all.

Is that the only type of discussion you guys are ok with here?

Our team is a much better one this year.
Just wish you did not schedule three Leech cupcakes every year so that you had at least one test in nonconference.

FWIW... most of us want the same thing. Tubby has talked about getting a lower tier SEC team like Ole Miss or something... we'll see.

I actually always admired Tubby quite a bit. His whole demeanor, he reminds me of that old SMU coach, Bobby Collins does he not? Funny thing is, Leach brought the spread to the Big 12 & changed the whole conference.....now Tubs, who is traditionally a power football guy, does he stick with Leach's spread, or be a guy who ultimately brings power football back to the Big 12?

Why are Tech fans delusional? I haven't seen a single thing a Tech fan has said on this board that has been proven wrong. Tech fans thought they would be better this year, and up to this point we've been spot on based on similar opponents up to this point last year.

Now if we go up to Ames and lose by worse than we did in Lubbock last year then I think we will prove to be a fairly delusional bunch. If we play much better, compete, and potentially win, will we still be considered delusional or just right?

The "Nascar" that Neal Brown and Tubs run is NOT the Leach spread, but I think Tubs will stick with it for now. Our WR corps are ridiculously deep (just trust me, please) and our offense as a whole seems to be getting into this new scheme. If we can keep the WR stable strong, there is no reason why he would want to adjust to a power running game.

Sometimes I wonder if Tubs really has an idea of what is going on with the offense. He'll have a halftime interview where he states, "We've just got to get the running game going," and then we'll come out firing in the 2nd half. Our OC, Neal Brown, is a very capable OC and if Tubs will let him do his thing, our O will be very successful.

I would guess the total cupcake non-con schedule tells you nothing about your team and that is probably why Tubby would like to see a somewhat better opponent during that time.

Nothing has been proven correct either. That's the point.

Why are Tech fans delusional?

I present Exhibit #1 with the key words highlighted for emphasis.

Tech could win any of those games, as well as, lose any of those games.

But, I'll give a crack at it:

@ISU (W...call me crazy)
OU (W...guess I am crazy, but Tech has had great success against them lately)
WV (L...but this is a tough spot for them. they have to travel to UT the week before, so 2 straight weeks to Texas), and KSU coming the very next week. Could be a look ahead game for them.
@TCU (W...they are overrated, and soon people will realize this)
@KSU (W...We should of had them last year. They are winning with mirrors, I think)
UT (L...We don't play well against UT, but their defense isn't as good as people think)

I see 4-2, and 3-3 at worse.

There definitely was.

Here's a nice little video of Leach after a win against BU just in case you haven't seen it. He gets a little mad.

So, what do you Tech fans think was really going on here? I never got a reply from ttraiderbacker. Is this a true post-game whipping from a coach who was actually dissatisfied with the players?

I've wondered if it wasn't really a ploy by Leach to help get himself fired. He looks right at the camera enough to make it clear that he knows he is being taped. Why would you let someone record a speech like that unless you are trying to make a statement to someone who would see it? I wouldn't put it past him. Leach is a strange, but shrewd guy.

Isn't he a lawyer? I've wondered if he thought he could win big in court for some sort of improper termination (or just get a better settlement) if he could get them to fire him. Didn't they fire him just days before he was going to get an enormous bonus? Is it still in court? If so, what does he hope to accomplish? How much money is he likely to get out of winning a suit or settling out of court?

I present Exhibit #1 with the key words highlighted for emphasis.

Could end up looking delusional, could end up underselling. At this point no one knows enough to call someone delusional for an event or series of events that haven't happened.
