I am just going to be honest here. Everyone is telling me how good Tech is and how much better they are this year. And I am tired of it. ISU stomped Tech two years in a row and neither game was competitive. ISU has a FAR superior schedule so far and we are still learning about our team. I have no idea how you can draw any conclusions about Texas Tech with the schedule they have played. They have had 3 scrimmages against glorified high school teams.

Well, it's because of the way the games have been. Yes, these teams weren't that good, but last year against Texas St, it was 10-9 TSU at the half. This year wasn't even close...38-10 at halftime. Last year, TSU had 256 yards rushing, this year only 127 with the same scheme, and players.

Last year, UNM had 337 total yards, and this year, they only had 127 total yards. UNM had over 200 yards rushing against UT, and against Tech, they only had 84.

Now, I'm not saying Tech has a better defense than UT, but I think it's obvious we have shown to have a better defense than what we had last year against the very same teams.

You may not buy it, and I could be totally wrong, but to simply dismiss it because they were cupcakes could be a mistake, too.

Remember all of those great KSU teams in the past played cupcakes, too, but they still beat up other Big12 teams.

Hey ttraiderbacker... where in my post did I say I thought Iowa State would win? Did I put a prediction on the game? say what i thought the score would be?
NO.
It will be a good game. I'm just wondering where your confidence comes from. ISU fan's here know we have issues offensively, and are not where we would like to be. If I were to take this your way, by saying this game is already decided, then you are saying that you've already won the Big 12 and the National title.. it works both ways, trollopotamus

Trollopotamus? Ummm, excuse me for asking, but how old are you? That's embarrassing.

Save the fire for the real trolls. Right now, this guy is a fan backing his team. If he goes over the troll line, then we go troll crazy.

No reason not to welcome him aboard for now. There's time for burning him as a troll later, if that's what he turns into. If he just wants to talk about the game, what's the problem in that?

Sure, it's surprising that a fan thinks their team will win and all, but we can learn to adapt to people with crazy ideas.

Wow, never thought that could be possible? A fan that thinks their team could win? Must be a new concept, huh?

This guy is not a troll. I like having fans from other teams come here to chat about upcoming games. He is nothing like that Baylor guy who posts random, worthless BU crap all the time.

That said...

Tech could win any of those games, as well as, lose any of those games.

But, I'll give a crack at it:

@ISU (W...call me crazy)
OU (W...guess I am crazy, but Tech has had great success against them lately)
WV (L...but this is a tough spot for them. they have to travel to UT the week before, so 2 straight weeks to Texas), and KSU coming the very next week. Could be a look ahead game for them.
@TCU (W...they are overrated, and soon people will realize this)
@KSU (W...We should of had them last year. They are winning with mirrors, I think)
UT (L...We don't play well against UT, but their defense isn't as good as people think)

I see 4-2, and 3-3 at worse.

If you really expect to go 3-3 at worst through that stretch, I think you're in for some serious disappointment. Tech will probably be favored in one of those six games, and that one will be against a team that has basically run a train on yours two seasons in a row. (Hint: It's ours.)

I see Tech going 1-5 in that stretch, maybe 2-4 if lucky.

Y'all should listen to ttraiderbacker. This Tech team is very different from the 2011 and 2010 teams. Tech beat but struggled against our cupcake OOC opponents those years. This season, Tech has dominated those teams from start to finish. Our team is finally healthy and running on all cylinders. Should be a great game.

I'm trying to figure out why we will HAVE to throw against Tech. I mean, we WILL throw some against them, but last year we racked up 368 yards on the ground. Granted, a lot of that was due to the fact that we didn't have to do anything but run the ball in the second half, but still. I find it hard to believe that Tech's rushing defense will be so vastly improved that we won't be able to get at least 200 yards.
This and I hate to tell Red Raider fan but New Mexico, Texas State and Northwestern State are god awful, all may be some of the worst teams in college football. They have not faced the stable of running backs, the offensive line nor the secondary they are in store for in two weeks.

I think you need to listen to Leach tell you again that last year doesn't ******* mean jack ******* ****. (his words, not mine) And then ask yourself why you keep comparing this team to last year's. And then take a look at the opponents this year's team has faced. And then ask yourself "What do I really know about this year's team?"

If you're honest, you aren't chalking up wins against the top four teams in the league before you've even played a decent opponent.

By the way, I'm one of the posters here that gets ripped on for saying that Texas Tech is going to be a very tough game to win this year, I'm one of the posters here that rips others for thinking that it's going to be a cakewalk for the third year in a row. Come back to reality, TTfan and try to achieve your original goal of "getting some good conversation." Maybe you should change the subject to tailgating or something.

And you know this from destroying the likes of New Mexico, Northwestern State and Texas State? I would like to know a school with an easier non conference schedule in a BCS league?

Calling someone a trollopotamus? That's just childish.

My apologies. I shall refrain from calling you such a childish name.

[/COLOR] You're right. We need to change the subject. Lets move on to how good Tech will be this year in basketball

I want to go back to RBs. Talking about an all around back? Oh that would be Mr. James White. He can do it all. Shifty? Silly we have this fellow named Shontrelle Johnson, boy is he fun to watch. Now the guy who punishes people? You realize a lot of these Iowa boys are tough right? Jeff Woody runs over people. Go watch the last 25 yards of the OSU game.

Just curious, but when did I "chalk up wins against the top 4 teams". Is ISU a top 4 team? No. What's wrong with thinking we could beat OU? I didn't chalk up a win against WVU. TCU is not a Top 4 team, either. They are going to have to prove it first, and just because they are ranked, doesn't make them a top 4 team automatically. KSU also had one good season out of the last 4 years, and now they are a Top 4 team? I also didn't chalk up a win against Texas. BU had a great season last year, too, does that make them a Top 4 team?

If you're just going by rankings, then I guess you think there's never overrated teams (TCU). By season's end, people will realize TCU is way overrated, and will be down there by KU. ISU will beat, and finish ahead of TCU (not saying that to degrade ISU, either)

IMO, top 4 big 12 schools are (no particular order):

OU
UT
OSU
WVU

I have been very complimentary towards ISU, and your coach. I think this game should be a good game, and I respect Rhoads as a coach, and think you have a great one.

I've said that before, and I'll say it again. You guys have upgraded from Chizik.

Me too! :twitcy: New Mexico fans are certainly more impressed by Tech than UT.

Scout.com: *** New Mexico vs Texas Tech*** Game Thread
Would New Mexico even know what good football looks like? I mean everyone looks good against them.

cfbstats.com - 2012 National
Against the pass: We are 21, New Mexico is 112, and I did not know there was a Texas State but they are 114
Against the run: we are 34, New Mexico is 91 and this Texas State is 64
Total defense: we are 16, New Mexico is 113, and Texas State is 100

Little dose of reality is coming in two weeks, sorry you get no respect when you pull the Snyder card and play the three weakest teams in football, why no Savanna State? Were they not available.

Yeah, I remember White having a pretty good game against us, along with Barnett, which was his first start, I think. Just curious why he isn't getting more playing time? Especially if Jantz is having turnover issues? ISU will definitely be a good test to see if our run defense is where I think it is.

I don't remember Johnson, though, but he does look quick!

For the record, I think the Tech game will be a tough game that could go down to the wire. Just think it is kind of ridiculous to gauge how good Tech might be this year from the games played so far. Defensively I think we have a pretty good secondary and linebackers (obviously) as well and will match up pretty well against Tech (pass heavy offense), our offense is what worries me (although I still don't think Tech's defense will be all that good).
