Anyone want a good example of how far ESPN has fallen...the Heisman is tonight (just realized it today) and Tim Tebow is doing the interviews. Just a bro doing bro stuff.

I think the issue is that you all are spending your time watching the Herbie's. Just another reason ESPN has too many channels and not enough content to full them.

I remember when ESPN2 came out and was all crazy and extreme.

Wonder if any of their higher ups acknowledged what the internet might eventually turn into.

Literally stumbled on it as they were announcing top 3 and stayed through commercial for announcement. When I think back to going into that game on the road, no QB, best defensive player out, spot them 14 out of the gate ... I get people saying we should be thankful we didn't win it ... But it was possibly a program turning moment if this trend continues. Out.

I guess it makes sense. Iowa State over OU is less surprising than Iowa beating Ohio State. Given that they made the right choice.

All those Boomer company execs banked on everyone being unable to live without TV. They were wrong. Cable subscriptions are still plummeting while online services are thriving. The world is going to change in an extreme way the next 20 years. America is poorly prepared on many fronts for it.

CMC also told them- "not only will guys like Herbsteit never acknowledge what we did today, he'll probably take kudos for telling ADs to call Ames looking for their next coach."

I think ISU over OU was the bigger upset (because OU is a ton better than Ohio State) until Iowa got stomped by Purdue at home. At that point the Ohio State upset seems like a bigger shock and more out of place.

ISU had a chance to win all 12 games, there wasn't a game where a team with a losing record came into JTS and stomped us. A team that could have won every game really can't be that big of an upset winner in hindsight.

In hindsight, the Iowa win over OSU was easily a bigger upset than ISU over OU, because it turned out that ISU was a much better football team than Iowa. And the fact that Iowa's offense, one of the worst in the country, was able to put up 55 pts on OSU was certainly insane.

But at the time they happened, ISU's upset was MUCH bigger. As everyone knows, OU>>>OSU...... AND..... ISU was playing AT OU, while Iowa was at home vs. OSU. And on top of that, ISU was going to be starting their 3rd string walk-on QB on the road at OU. And ISU was the bigger underdog in Vegas too.

But like I said... I can see now why Herbie gave Iowa this award. He now sees how much better a team ISU is than Iowa.

Not winning this is definitely not an insult to ISU. Maybe Oklahoma (not really), but not ISU.

Yep, plus OU still made the playoff since their loss was to a quality team. The Iowa loss fully kept OSU out due to national knowledge that Iowa sucks.
