There were some uncooked soft shells at Walmart for a while. Not sure where they went, but they were really good tasting, and only took 20 or so seconds each side to brown them. NIce compromise between soft and hard. They didn't keep very long, even in the fridge, so maybe that was the reason they stopped carrying them.
I do like to "toast" a store bought soft tortilla sometimes on a griddle when making tacos at home for this very reason. kind of a middle ground between hard and soft.
