Just heard on Iowa Public Radio that today there was a ceremony in the Legislature, attended by Gov. Culver, honoring the establishment of Iowa State University 150 years ago.
(Old news? I hadn't heard it previously.)
IIHC, ISU was the first land-grant institution to admit women; there were 16 women in the first class.
Also IIHC, ISU was established on March 22, 1858. If so, maybe this came up last month. If that's the case, my apology for mentioning it now.
(I was working my old bod on the weights when this report came on, so could be I've got some of the information wrong. . . .)
