So... looking for a hotel for the DMB concert.. It looks like Hotel Fort Des Moines is really cheap... and really dumpy.. Is it worth the cheap $$ to crash in after the concert? I will not be sober when I get to the hotel..

It has become a dump, because they are in the middle of big transformation...

Closer to Wells, I would go with Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, Embassy Suites or Saivory. All decently walkable

Dwight Yoakam is headed back to the Surf on May 29th. I will be in attendance.

I saw Dwight 2 years ago at Nitefall on the River. He put on a pretty solid show, sounded like his usual twangy self.

If I'm out of the field, I'll be there.

Same here. Also hoping for a rainstorm on the day of the Granger Smith concert so I can go to that one too.

Alabama at the state fair, Josh Abott at Guthrie's River Ruckus, and Eric Church at Jones County fair also have me intrigued.

For those of you that went to ISU in the early 2000's, Pomeroy (used to play at Peoples, ska-rap-funk) band is reuniting this summer.

Love Weezer. They were one of my favorite bands in middle school and high school.

I wanted to see Jenny Lewis at the Mumford and Sons festival in Waverly, but Des Moines seems like a better option. Tickets to Mumford are a little steep.

Definitely. Wilco and Weezer are great well-recognized festival headliners that should pull in travelers from across the state and neighboring states. Also excited for Jenny Lewis, Talib Kweli, Run The Jewels, and the other bands I've heard of but haven't gotten around to checking out yet.
Cloud Nothings are amazing, I have requested them as an add for multiple years now, very pumped for that....

I have 3 Hinterland tickets I need to sell. Anyone interested? I have a wedding in STL that weekend.

How cheap are you willing to go and will you split them up? I'm of the opinion that for a first run festival in a possible mud pit without single day access they are asking a lot price-wise for these tickets at $75.00.

Natural Child is the 80/35 non-headliner that I'm most excited about. Wilco and Weezer are both great live and excellent headliner choices, but if I'm picking just one day, it's the day that Natty Chile plays.

These guys have become one of my favorite bands in recent years. Sleazy, boogie-filled classic rock that's lyrically devoted (or limited) to sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
