As a toddler parent, I feel this. I have no idea how something that's only 35 pounds can put down snacks for hours on end.My 11 year could have a 7 course meal at noon and be starving by 130.

Thank god. I thought it was just my kids. 6, 4, and 1 1/2. Holy **** they can eat. I shudder to think of the grocery bill when they are teenagersAs a toddler parent, I feel this. I have no idea how something that's only 35 pounds can put down snacks for hours on end.
Just getting them ready for military basic training. Been 30 years for me but I still find myself eating stupid fast.
That’s part of the issue. At the elementary age they’re usually messing around too much lolHonestly 10-15 minutes seems like it should be enough to eat a school lunch if you're not messing around.
When I was in school we would have lunch directly followed by recess. It was like an hour total.Maybe I'm misremembering things or out of my element here... but have grade school lunches always been so short?
For the past several years my kids have come home starving multiple times and when I asked them if they had lunch they would respond with things like, "We had a shorter lunch today because so and so wasn't ready or I tried, but ran out of time." I just chalked it up to my kids talking with friends too much and not focusing on eating.
Fast forward to today where I met my kid for lunch and JESUS. I think he had maybe 10-12 minutes tops to eat his lunch. Is this normal in the school system now? I swear when I was younger we got at least 30 minutes. There was never a rush to eat. I'm starting to realize why my kids engulf their food at home and when we go out to eat now.

It may only be 65% meat as well.Salisbury steak isn’t actually steak.
Kids school day is 8:20 to 3:15The other question is how long is the school day. In the 80s when i was in K-12 (1989 grad) we got to school by 8am, classes start at 8:20 and done at 3:15. If schools aren't starting till 9am now in some cases I can see why lunch is shorter. We had about 45 min.
There was a classmate when I was 8th grade who could eat his lunch and get a BJ on 3rd floor. He got caught like the second time though. When I was in high school I had time to drive 5 min home, eat and drive 5 min back. Probably another 5 min walking to and from car.
