Two parter, lots of stuff we knew, some stuff we didn't. Best news to come out of it was this line:

"Do you expect anyone else to transfer? How are you feeling about the returners?

No, I think everybody’s good. We started workouts. We met Monday. They’re all great. Their work ethic has been really good so far, they’re ready to roll. Tyrese, I think he’s got a chance to take a great step in a leadership role. Prentiss (Nixon) has some of the things we were missing this year defensively to where he can guard the elite perimeter player on the other team, draws charges, can really guard the ball and can make shots. Then a big year for Terrence (Lewis) to have a big summer. He’ll get some opportunities this year that he got a little earlier before Lindell came back. He’ll have a chance to stake claim to some playing time if he can take care of his business.

The frontcourt I feel really good about. George Conditt has a high ceiling. Solo has been very effective at this level, and Mike is coming off a really good year. Then you’ve got the one wild card where Zion (Griffin) played a lot early and then we kind of shut him down because we returned all those guys. He’s the wild card to where if he has a good summer, he can help you at the four because he plays with great energy. We just have to continue to have a really good summer with shooting and skill level so we can play him like a guard."

And continue to wonder if we are missing someone to fill the 4 spot the way Niang, Burton, or Shayok did. A "big guard" of sorts.

Put me in coach, I'm ready to go! I'd run through a wall for Coach Prohm, what a great ambassador for our school.

What do you want out of this profession? I want to be in a college town. I want to be where they care about basketball. I want to be at a place I can raise my family and I want to impact people. There’s really nothing out there that excites me outside of Iowa State.

He specifically said that's Zion Griffin - if he puts in the work over the summer.

I also think that is specifically what he's looking for in the grad transfer market. This would have to look really appealing to a potential transfer

Difficult to tell if he thinks Lindell is comimg back. Unless i missed it.

I read it as he thinks Lindell is gone.

I don’t know what he’s thinking right now. If the opportunity is out there for him, I obviously support him. If he wants to be back here, we’d love that, too. Right now, it’s about refresh his mind. We haven’t talked much now, let him go on, be with his family and kind of figure out what they want to do.

Great article. Dude seems to genuinely want these guys to take what's best for them. This comment about recruiting against Nebraska is perfect too
I’ll just always tell (a recruit) to ask him what he thinks about Iowa State. So he’ll have to answer that honestly.

Sounds like Lewis is 100% back -- good for the young man.

He shows flashes late his freshman year and early this year.

If he can develop some consistency on offense and competence on defense, there is definitely going to be a window for him as an upperclassman in Ames.

Yeah, patience could pay off for him. Sure would be nice to have a legit sniper out on the court spotting up around the perimeter next season.

I think he’s ready to step in on the offensive end. If he can figure out his rotations on the other end, he’ll be a steady part of the rotation

I read it as he thinks Lindell is gone.

I lean that way too. Reading between the lines this season, its seem pretty clear there was some tension between Prohm and Wigginton, and Prohm's comment that he is leaving him alone, seems like an odd thing to say.

I'm glad to hear that Wiggs is staying on top of his academics and if he decided to come back to ISU, I'm sure they would love to have him.

Given the likely roster, it makes sense. He seems like the type that is more consistent when given consistent minutes.

I read it as same as last year...Lindell went back to Canada then too only last year he was getting ready to work out for teams...this year I’m pretty sure he won’t even do that because teams already know and he didn’t improve on anything..actually regressed.

Lindell isn’t going to get drafted and I’m pretty sure Prohm knows this and LW too...Whether he wants to roll dice and pray he gets on G league team then he could. I read it as he will Lindell and his family talk about things and see where his head is at...I have a feeling if LW tells CSP he’s entering draft then that’s it..no coming back bc CSP can’t mess around and wait. If that’s what LW decides then I hope for him it works out I really do, seems like great kid....but he’s not getting drafted. Not even close.

I just finished reading both pieces and was really struck by how Prohm seems to have felt he shortchanged Wigginton and let him down this season. He mentioned apologizing to him numerous times.

It just seems weird to me...like, if you have to keep apologizing for not starting him, just start him. Sure, chemistry is a concern but there were significant portions of the season where the chemistry wasn't good anyway. Not sure what you lose by giving it a try instead of beating yourself up over it all season and potentially alienating your (arguably) best player.

But then, I thought Prohm's decisions on playing time were weird all season. The will-he-or-won't-he-play question with Lard most games, Conditt, THT arguably being given way too much latitude even when he struggled. None probably huge issues individually, but I'd like a little less drama on that front next season.
