Yeah, everyone (not wearing Cyclone colors) thought Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy would never play and he has had the chance to see the field at least a little bit...

I think many people thought Purdy would be a serviceable back up journey man type due to his consistency and maturity, work ethic, etc.

Those showed through when he was given the chance as his high profile teammates bought in to help him along; I'm not sure if that happens if Purdy were Manziel 2.0.

I'm not sure how well that goes for Dekkers but maybe some things have changed.

Good situation for Dekker in the Saints having a mess at QB.

Relatively high probability he'll get a chance to break through compared to most teams.

I figure the Saints are de facto tanking this year to draft a blue chip QB prospect next year, though.

At least Dekker might have a chance to put some good film out before then.

It's weird seeing Rattler as a likely 2nd or 3rd stringer for his career. He looked insane as a RS freshman at Oklahoma and looked like a first round pick with a chance of being a star in the NFL. He fizzled out his sophomore year then never was the same quarterback as before.

Dekkers has the arm talent to be an NFL QB. Between the ears is the issue with him. I have my doubts that it will work out, but you never know.

I am not sold at all on Shough. Remember, he played for Oregon and got benched early in the game. He looked a bit better at Louisville, but he didn't look like he handled pressure well at all. It seemed like the injuries had messed him up mentally.

A little bit of a hot take, but I think Dekkers is better than Rattler. Both have big arms, but Dekkers is a little more accurate.. Rattler was not accurate at all during his starts last year with the Saints.

I agree with both of these comments. I remember some of his throws early in his career and thinking I'd never seen that quick of a release with zip and accuracy before. He looked like a Heisman winner type QB. I don't know his story at all, but it makes me wonder what happenend.

I’ll always root for Hunter! Feel bad for the kid. Hope he makes it! I’ll never understand the hatred for him.

I suppose it depends on what you consider hate. I don’t feel like I hate him. But I don’t feel especially bad for any of the guys that got caught gambling. It may be a dumb rule but they knew it was a rule. They ****** around and found out. We’ve had one truly bad season since 2017 and Hunter was the QB for that season. So I guess I don’t have any good feelings banked for him.

I think it’s less about fans hating Hunter and more about the amazing run we’ve been on since that Ohio game. More than anything I’m happy it happened.
