Wouldn’t those key donors be the same ones who are funding the $1.1m? I wouldn’t think the UNC program has that many million dollar donors? And if they had the money for him and you have a couple other smaller donors, you’d find more donors once AJ came in and helped elevate the popularity and status of the team, in theory.

I wonder how much of the NIL he got up front. With his history I assume much of it was based on milestones but who knows. Can’t imagine he would (or even should) give any of it back

I think Northern Colorado is a tough job. I do not think they are fully funded and the coaching staff is not compensated very competitively.. It has been several years ago, but I was shocked when I learned what the assistants were earning.
