My gas fireplace hasn't worked correctly since we moved into our latest place almost 8 years ago. Basic gas log unit from the late '80s. Sounds like a jet engine when you light it and smells funky. Tried to let it run to burn off the smell but this didn't work. And the smell, no bueno. Also, little flame around the logs. And the noise, too loud to enjoy. Thinking maybe a replacement log set might fix this? Should probably get it inspected. What company in DSM metro could do this? Thoughts/ideas from you CF'rs? Wife has been bugging me lately to get it fixed. Seems like something else always comes up that is more important.

Bro! You're having some issues lately. Vacuum off the burners, they get clogged, see if that helps before you call someone.
I was going say, with all the issues you’re having. Use this as an excuse to burn it all down collect insurance and build new.
Was thinking it's probably the burner tube being corroded causing excessive gas flow. Everything is quite clean but I will try vacuuming the tube to see if it helps. Thanks!
Haha!. Live in townhome so neighbors would most likely not be happy if I burned the place down.
