Are there any good prequels?

And no, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom does not count. There is nothing in that film that firmly places its chronology relative to any of the others.

I agree. Don't mess with an epic. And they're adding a bunch of pretty known actors too. Part of what is great about GoT is that there are no blockbuster movie stars/Oscar winners, etc.

I see Naomi Watts will be a lead in this new prequel. Love her but that is very meh. Same with adding Miranda Richardson.

It's a prequel that's 5 thousand years in the past, so I'm not worrying about this new show bleeding into the current masterpiece we know as Game of Thrones.

I for one will watch the hell out of this.

Prometheus (Alien prequel)?

Love Prometheus.

The new Star Trek is kind of a prequel/reboot combined. The past two star trek TV series have been prequels. Enterprise was a thumbs down for me but Discovery is very good so far...within the realm of people who like TV Star Trek.

They should have done one short and accurate Hobbit movie, then made a Silmarillion movie that would be similar to this in terms of 5000 years prior.

It's not a coincidence G.R.R. has a thousands of years backstory the same way J.R.R. did.

Really Prometheus was a totally let down to me. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I've always wanted more of the first 30 minutes of Alien so Prometheus is pretty close to what I was waiting for. It's more like the original in that it's horror/scifi not action/scifi.

If you want more Aliens (which is what most want) I totally get it and we're probably still waiting for something like that. I think they tried for that in Covenant and it was ok but not great.
