Rivalry has nothing to do with relative success. KSU is ku's rival and so are we as we all hate each other.

KSU considers KU to be their rival but I don't think most KU fans really consider KSU to be a rival. There has to be some relative success involved. There aren't many years where KSU and KU are battling at the top. A rivalry doesn't have a clear definition; it's much more organic than that. I really thought KU-Texas had a chance to develop into a great rivalry. We had some epic battles with KU year after year. Unfortunately, Barnes was unable to keep up their end of the bargain. Add to it that their fan base is pretty apathetic to their program.

Iowa State and Kansas are rivals in basketball and any Kansas fan that doesn't admit that right now is in denial. I live among KU fans and from the way they talk when I say I am an ISU fan, you can tell it is a rivalry. No over analysis will change that fact.

No, not 11. Just more than one. Absent the 100+ years of hatred between the two states and the two programs, it will probably take more than winning the conference once for KU fans to get real riled up about KU-ISU. That's not a slight against ISU. You guys have a great team right now, it takes a little extra something to go from the competition to the rival is all. I've just seen a number of other contenders come and go around the top.

Your rival is just that team that you HATE that you always have to battle year in and year out to get to the top. And most sports rivalries have something from outside the sport that sauces it up a bit. KU-MU went back to the Civil War days. We played 267 games versus Mizzou dating back to 1907; you can't seriously expect 3 out of 4 wins in two years to fill that void.

And this is pretty much the reason I think you are a pompous, condescending *******. Don't think I'm alone in that assessment either.
