Living out of state I don't get to enjoy a few of my favorites that I once loved while living in-state. But a friend just brought me a cooler loaded a couple of my favorites: Pella Ring Bologna, AE Party Dip , & AE Old Fashioned Cottage Cheese (and a few ribeyes of course). If only she'd have put Kringla in there...

Curious what other Iowa food favorites I should put on the list for the next load?

Didn't realize the rest of the country doesn't consume walking tacos and breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches until my oldest son went to college out of state. That is what he misses.

Tough to keep a good tenderloin still warm from Iowa to TX.

edit: Carver beat me to the tenderloin.

Cheese balls aren't consumed outside of the Upper Midwest either.

I didn't learn that until this past year.

I've also heard that Taco Pizza is an Iowa/Midwest specific thing which I found surprising.

Maytag Blue Cheese is a good one.

Most times that my wife and I go back (and drive), we stop at Fareway and fill up a cooler with pork. Much cheaper and higher quality than you can get anywhere in Colorado.

My brother is in town from Tampa this weekend and he always wants a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich and taco pizza from the OP.

On the road...
Casey's Pizza. I head straight to the Casey's just south of the airport on Fluer before hwy 5 right after I land. Then I turn around and go to the Hy-Vee just north and grab a 24 pack of Leinie's Original bottles. I crave both of them way too much.

I have a list of must haves when I visit:
Breaded Pork Tenderloin from any small town cafe
Tasty Tacos
Casey's Taco Pizza (and/or Casey's pizza in general)
Maid Rite (this is on the verge of dropping as the last few I've had sucked)
Cheese Curds
OP had a good one with AE Party dip...that's getting added.

Casey's is a definite must have when I come home. In the summer, I do miss nice Pork Chop and real Sweet Corn, not this "Jersey Corn" out here...

For all of the tenderloin lovers, you haven't had a tenderloin until you have tried mine. I have to make them all of the time for friends and family. Just my humble brag.

I do the same.

Two products I always load up on as well: AE French Onion Dip and Hy-Vee cottage cheese.
