What are your favorite snow day activities? Do you go out and brave the elements to snowshoe or build a snowman? Do you cuddle in front of the fire?

Our children went out and built a miniature snowman on Monday, and both made themselves an entire activity list. Snow angels, hot chocolate, building a fort. They each checked them all off!
When I was a teenager and young adult, I would hop in my old beater of a car and race around the streets of my small hometown, sliding around corners and doing donuts. It was the type of car that was indestructible, made of steel, not aluminum and plastic, and had a three on the tree transmission. Even if you did put a ding in it, you didn't care, because it was an old car.

It's the way I learned to drive in snow and probably saved my life one time when I came upon an unexpected T intersection at night on a country road that was ice and snow packed. I tapped the brakes, cranked the wheel and went sideways through the triangle-shaped snow bank the snow plow left in the middle of the T. My tires going through that drift slowed me down enough that I ended up facing the right direction in the right lane on the horizontal part of the T and missed the ditch by a car width at least. If I had slammed on the brakes and tried to stop that way, it would have been all over for me.

I used to love to drive my mother to the store in that car right after a winter storm and scare the bejeesus out of her by sliding around corners.

We boys each had ATC's (three wheelers) and would ride around the farm. If the snow got too high my day would take the tractor w/lodaer and make us a track and we would race and crash each other. LOL. We started with small ATC 70's and graduated to 200X's.

Since it became mine, my snow day is clearing around home, the other farm we rent to get feed in, and loading snow blower and head in town to clear my dad's place and his elderly neighbors place. I am not liking this heavy snow here around Quad Cities today!
It will be the same thing. I clear dads neighbor's place then his walk and driveway, then go in to talk to him. He bakes a lot now so will want to give me pie, cookies, or something. He will have me do something around the house he has been waiting on me to come do, ask about us and the neighbors, and then want me to sit and have a few beers with him. I will have one but he will unknowingly try to get me buzzed so I can drive home in a freaking snow storm that way LOL. I hope I have many more years of this!!

My boy thinks he is heading back to Ames early tomorrow morning. He will either get half crocked with Gpa, or be my DD tonight and drive home slow. Maybe we both drink and just spend the night?

When I was living in a western city a few years back, we had a 20+ inch dump of snow one night. I knew I didn't want to drive in it so I decided to walk to work, about 1 1/2 miles away.

It was very quiet outside, not only from the snow's blanket but because there were almost no cars. Along the way, I saw a guy skiing down the street. Then, a few blocks later, saw two drivers get in a heated argument over who would proceed first through an intersection where there was no traffic otherwise.

When I got to the office, I found out it was closed, so I had to walk back home.

Hallmark Channel Christmas movies and a healthy supply of black tar heroin.

The one where the late 20s ish woman visits her hometown and decides to quit her job and bad relationship after spending two days in her cozy mansion, while at the same time she falls in love with an old high school flame after they started off 'ruff' in an argument about how to put on the annual town puppy show?

Yeah I've never watched either.
