The West Wing season finale where Dire Straits Brothers In Arms plays while President Bartlet makes his way to the press conference where he will announce whether or not he is running for re-election. It's got to be up there among the finest five minutes of scripted television ever.

I've always loved the opening sequence in "The Hunt for Red October" with The "Hymn to Red October". That damn Ruski music gets me every time.

For pure 80s coolness, gotta go with the dance scene from Rad

Sadly, I have actually thought of this many times before and have a running list.

'Falling Slowly' from the movie 'Once' in the music shop. I still watch that scene randomly online. Love it.

'Wise Up' from 'Magnolia'. Many people hate that movie/scene but it's probably my top song/scene from almost any movie with all the actors singing. Awesome.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World has some great song scenes.

'Tiny Dancer' from Almost Famous for sure.

'Day Oh' from Beetlejuice

Office Space scene breaking the FAX machine

'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' from Kill Bill vol 1 is way high on my list. It's the fight between Uma and Lucy Liu in the snow. Incredible.

'Down in Mexico' from Tarantino's Death Proof.

'Sister Christian' from Boogie Nights

'Immigrant Love Song' from opening credits of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

'Puttin on the Ritz' from Young Frankenstein

'Stonehenge' from This Is Spinal Tap'

'Stuck in the Middle with You' from Resevoir Dogs

Not a "movie", but the most appropriate song/ending to anything I've seen

Yeah, that last pairing in BB was the perfect ending. As far as movies:

1. "Every Sperm is Sacred" from Monty Python's "Meaning of Life."

2. "Beethoven's 9th" in "A Clockwork Orange."

3. "In Your Eyes" from "Say Anything."

Minnie the Moocher in Blues Brothers, followed closely by the car chase, Soul Food Cafe, every other scene

Gonna Fly Now from Rocky

I'm Alright - end of Caddyshack

Pretty much any movie that has a bagpipe version of Amazing Grace being played during a burial gets me

This is a solid freaking list. I can't believe I didn't think of Magnolia or Spinal Tap in particular. And Scott Pilgrim is something I enjoyed a ton, I need to rewatch that.

I immediately think of Reservoir Dogs and "Stuck in the Middle With You"

Also the "Hotel California" cover in Big Lebowski where we meet "De Jesus"

Good call, I should have thought of that one...

Tarantino is the master at putting great music to a scene/movie. Every one of his movies has at least one great music scene if not several.

Reservoir Dogs - Stuck in the Middle with You
Pulp Fiction - Girl You'll Be a Woman Soon; You Never Can Tell (dance in the diner)
Jackie Brown - Across 110th Street; Midnight Confessions
Kill Bill Vol. 1 - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood; Bang Bang; Battle without honor or humanity;
Death Proof - Down in Mexico; Hold Tight (god I love that song and the scene in that movie. So good)

Paul Thomas Anderson is also a master at this in both Boogie Nights and Magnolia

Golden Brown - Snatch

I'm Shipping Up to Boston - The Departed

Excellent call on Golden Brown. Guy Ritchie makes really good use of music in his films. The "I wanna be your dog" scene from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels comes to mind.

I thought of "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" even before I saw the Python one above.

Holiday Road from Vacation is pretty much perfect.

And the opening of my favorite movie American Graffiti. You hear the sound of a radio being tuned before the opening scene starts and then boom, Rock Around the Clock starts. I know, it's cliche' now, but it was the one that was first, before it was a cliche'

Elizabethtown - My Morning Jacket makes a cameo as cousin Jesse's band and they tear it up with a cover of Freebird.
