What is your favorite song/album where a musician crossed genres?

I don’t want to steal his example, but one that comes to mind is Jack White on Beyoncé’s “Don’t Hurt Yourself.”

I'll probably take some flack for this, but country artist Mark Chesnutt's cover of Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing". Aerosmith is very good at what they do, and Tyler has the voice for their genre, but Chesnutt's version was a bit softer, more of a love song (as fits the words of the song).

Don't have a specific song but Aerosmith's blues alum Honkin on Bobo is great IMO. Fleetwood Mac also started out in the blues genre and some of there early stuff is pretty good blues. Speaking of blues I ran across this a few months ago with Cyndi Lauper doing blues.

I view it as Aerosmith crossing over more than DMC crossing over.

The Oak Ridge Boys did a version of Kansas Carry On Wayward Son



While they never have recorded it that I know of The Band Perry does a really good country spin on Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls when they did live shows (have to forward past the first 1:30 or so to get to it)

I'm not sure if it's enough of a genre shift to really count as a crossover, but John Mayer did a really good blues album in the mid- to late 2000s.
