Hi!

@Angie is occupied this week and she asked me to serve as backup host for F-OT.

So I’ll play Joan Rivers to her Johnny Carson.

This week’s theme: Regardless of where you live, the temperature always will be within a 40-degree range, for the rest of your life. What temperature span would you select?

Exceptions: When you take a vacation or if you have a secondary residence, weather will adhere to reality in those cases.

You may set the range as “inclusive” (i.e., 36-95, instead of 55-95) or do it "like a normal person would" (such as 20 to 60).

Explanation regarding your choice is encouraged.

28 to 68. I have too many hobbies during all times of the year so having all 4 seasons is a must. 28 so it gets cold enough for snow, which I bumped up from 25 because 68 for some reason always seems a lot warmer than 65. That is warm enough for all summer activities without being ungodly hot.

Realized my second temp-range example was like 60, not 40. It has been revised.

I'm still fine-tuning my response -- want to be as precise as possible, without it becoming a Buridan's A** situation. :)

This. I might even bump it to 30-70. I love snow and 70 might be the perfect riding temperature.

I'll go with 41 to 80.

Low-end works for early-spring wakeup and a crisp autumn cool-down.

Upper edge is hot enough to inspire a cool-off in a pool, lake or canoeing. Anything above that temperature is redundant, and not comfortable if swelter period is extensive.

The only reason I'd set the range lower is to have a little snow around the holidays, but I've lived in the snow-belt most of my life and I'm not a winter-outdoorsman. Beyond nostalgia, I could do without it.

I'd need a jacket, but not a hat or gloves (unless wind chill comes into play). Plus, and this is very topical today, no ice.

The main drawback would be the lack of a freeze to kill off insects, but I could deal with it if it never got above 85.

27-67. You need it to get below freezing part of the year to kill these guys.

I would totally break the rules and have 40 degrees broken into two ranges with 15-25 and 55-85. I don't want to have anything to do with those ice storm days but I like a little snow. Mrs. Velo will always want something 80 degrees and up.

Those days when it instantly goes from 55 to 25 would be a real pain, though.

40-79 (in other words, northern California coastal areas). If anyone has seen my incessant blathering about Sea Ranch in numerous other posts and my desperation to be able to afford to live there, you already know this is my ideal location, largely due to the stability of the temperatures year-round.

I would need a bigger than 40 degree swing. I like to ice fish, but 60 for a warm temp is a little too cool.

40-80. I don't mind anything above 20-25 degrees or so, but I'd like it to top out at around 80, so that's my range.
