At 13-0, we'd be behind 1 loss teams with names like tOSU, USC, LSU - any school that started the season in the top 10. Probably would be behind a 1 loss hawaii too.

We'd get the guaranteed BCS bowl, but not the title game.

Like Kansas was last year?

All they had to do was win out, and they were playing in the BCS championship.

If we go 13-0, we would be a lock for the BCS championship PROVIDED there were not two other undefeated teams from BCS conferences. The Big 12 is a tough conference. The north may be tougher this year than the south. And we would have to beat every team in the north and the best team in the south to go undefeated.

Nope - they would be talking NFL titles at that point.

I in no way believe that we will be 13-0 this year. I'd be ecstatic with it if we were. I'm just saying that should ISU go 13-0 this year (especially after a 3 win season last year), we wouldn't make the title game.

I agree. Every other team would have to have 2 losses. I mean when KU and MU were both undefeated there was still talk of 1 loss teams getting in ahead of them if one finished undefeated prior to big12 championship.

Prior to the big 12 championship is the key. KU or Mizzou would have had to have beaten Oklahoma to go undefeated. It wouldn't even have been a question.

There has never been an undefeated BCS conference team that has not played for the BCS championship after going undefeated except when there have been more than 2 undefeated BCS conference teams (Auburn 2004).

If you go undefeated in ANY BCS conference, you're more than likely going to be playing for the BCS championship. If ISU goes undefeated in the Big 12, which is the toughest, or second toughest conference in the nation, there is NO way they aren't one of the teams in the BCS championship game.

Couple of things. First, IF we did go 13-0, we would be in the national championship game for sure. I don't know how somebody could honestly argue that. The only way we wouldn't is if USC went undefeated and a SEC team went undefeated also.

The Big 12 is stacked this year. The north is as good as it has been ever. Top to bottom there really isn't a bad team. That is why, even with our improvement, it will be tough for us to win 6 games.
