Can someone give me an idea on ISU's recruiting as far as targets on the DL and at LB? I know ISU does not want to go full out JUCO recruiting but I feel across the d-line ISU could go the JUCO route as well as at LB. ISU needs instant help at the d-line, especially on the inside.

I think a school like ISU should target 3 or 4 impact JUCO's each season especially on the lines. These guys should come in and be able to contribute right away.

Going into next season I would not be opposed to having a JUCO QB come in.

i think we usually do a good job getting jucos, but this year we got chris and anthony young, 2 guys who have seen very little PT because they are at positions we have too much depth at. rony nelson could be a good juco pickup, hopefully. i was chatting with a juco qb last year who isu was interested in but did not offer. i forget the kids name, but he was a speedy left-hander. he told me that he wanted to play in the big 12 but most of his offers were from the pac 10 and sec. not sure where he ended up. i think his name was dominique blackmon or something

Thanks for compiling this list. I just don't get these guys committing to Minn over us. Brewster is gonna be outta there, soon. It seems to me that Wally's defense shouldn't be that hard of a sell to kids who are considereing ISU vs. Minn.

All the dt offered have selected a school, no surprises here. These positions are the toughest to fill.

Thanks for compiling the list hsbendzeit. I do think it's quite interesting that a lot of the more highly touted guys on that list are not high on USC. Two or three years ago, that would have been a completely different story.

As for ISU's prospects, you have to hope they can land at least one of those DEs and one of the LBs. I think we need to get at least two more DEs in this class (we've already signed two I believe) and at least three DTs (none yet signed).

Does anyone know what type of prospects are out there at DT/DE in the JUCO ranks? I think we need an instant upgrade on the line (obvious statement of the day), and I based on what I've heard, the younger guys in the program have a long way to go.

I disagree about relying on jucos, for a number of reasons. I think that CPR really has to build the program with high school talent. Mavc made an immense mistake the years after his Insight.com bowl victory going for the quick fix with jucos, and many either didn't qualify, or contribute as hoped. Had he brought in high schoolers instead, there might have been a momentary hiccup to the program, but a solid foundation would have been established. Instead, the talent level downspiraled from there.

I completely agree, but I don't think it hurts to give a couple JUCOs a look every year, 3-4 tops. I know we've had some misses, but we've also had some pretty solid guys come through (Ace, Tuba, Dobbins and then solid contributors like Lyle, Sims, LaMarcus Hicks, etc.)

It is pretty clear that CPR is planning on not going the JC route. The biggest problem is that there just doesn't look like there are guys in the program that are going to be big enough, or fast enough no matter how many years they are in the S&C program.

We should be looking at JUCOs. I don't want 10 but we should be trying to get 4-5. I doubt we get that many but hopefully we can get a few. I also wouldn't place a ton of confidence in that list. It's likely those guys have offers but there are guys we have offered that aren't on there.

Dline is so hard to recruit for. Iowa doesn't get many great Dline recruits but they develop them into great players. Thats what we have to do. I like a few of the guys we have gotten. I think there are two LBs with Dline in their future and a pure rush end on the list. It will take time. They probably won't play for 2-3 years but I think they are where we need to start. Last year, I think will end up being pretty LBer heavy so I don't know that we are going after a ton of them.

Yeah, that's obvious. After less than two years we should expect machines out there. This is ridiculous.

Seriously, look at Jake McDonough last year compared to this year. Look at Jake Knott when he came in compared to now. AJ Klein.

Obviously guys are developing, but I don't think Kevin Hamlin is ever going to have prototypical LB size, or Willie Scott is going to be 245+. You make due with what you have, and right now, we're severely undersized.

Does anyone know anything about the development of Aaron Moore or Cleyon Laing? These guys have the size and look the part, but have yet to really see any time on the field. I know Moore is just a rFr and Laing and is a rSo, but I'm curious if they're progressing and will be ready to play some meaningful snaps by the end of this season or the beginning of next.

I know, I want d-lineman too. But check this kid out, we are after his teammate (WR - Kori Babineaux). Name's Dano Graves #7 plays qb and I think he's being overlooked, this kid is a football player. May be undersized, but watch his tape and tell me you don't want him on the team.
