I've had Need a few times, thought it was pretty good but nothing crazy. Still think Zoey's in Marion is as good as you'll get in CR area. And as good as the pizza is the calzones are better.
Zoey's: Always over-priced vs size. Crusts not great. Always a really really long wait for a pie (even when it isn't busy).

We really don't. Add in Tomaso's and Urban Pie (only had it once but it was good) and ther are plenty of good pizza options.
I've had Tomaso's twice. Doesn't hold a candle to Eddie's Sip-N-Stir pizza from the late 80s and early 90s.

Too bad Eddie had to retire, but at 80+ years old, he deserved to rest. But he really loved making Pizza. And I believe with all my heart that it was his Pizza that kept the Sip-N-Stir viable so that the owner at the time (George) along with his elderly wait staff (Inez and ???) could retire with a good savings.

Cappy's is by far the best pizza in CR, I don't really feel like there is even a close second.

Will have to try Cappy's. I've never heard of it.

At present time, the best Pizza I've had in Cedar Rapids since returning to the area in 2012, was at the old Pizza Village, which is now called Bushwood (which isn't really a pizza place as much as it is a bar that serves food).

EDIT - I just visited Cappy's website. I will have to keep my mind 'open' after seeing the photos and reading the menu. Kinda difficult for me to imagine a good pizza after the website.

Naso's Pizza...the first one on 1st Ave before it expanded to Marion, had the best hand tossed brick pizza. The Godwin family made a bunch of pizza's in Cedar Rapids (Naso's, Flamingo, Xavier's, Winifreds...). Solid pizza.
True. Xavier's and Flamingo had good pizza. Xavier's is now closed. Flamingo as far as I know, is mostly banquets now. I've never been inside the door of Winifred's or Naso's. I believe Eddie of the old Sip-N-Stir once worked for the Godwin's. Not sure who taught who to make pizza.

And when talking Pizza and Cedar Rapids, one should always think of Leonardo's. Of course, it isn't as good as it was many years ago, but its still respectable. How long have they been open?

Out of curiosity what about it sets you off?

Is it the cafeteria style plate? The color of the table? The out of focus photo of the slice of pizza? (http://cappyspizzapie.com/assets/img/new-yorker-pizza-2.jpg). The burned edges of the deep dish pizza (http://cappyspizzapie.com/assets/img/Chicago-deep-dish-pizza.jpg)? I dunno. I'm sure they're not terrible. I just don't hope for a new all time favorite.

It may not be your all time favorite but it can still be pretty darn good. The atmosphere and decor is quite different but that is a nice change IMO. A business person would call that a competitive advantage that sets them apart.
