No way Wigginton is worth enough to Nike or Adidas for them to try to stear him to a certain school. It doesn't make sense for them to bribe players other than like the top 5-10 recruits, who they are 90% sure will turn into NBA players. Guys ranked in the 40-60 range have like a 25% chance of becoming NBA players, or less. That's a bad investment for the shoe companies. That doesn't mean lower ranked players don't get paid off some other way, just not by Adidas or Nike.
Bruce Bowen is #20 in his class and got $100,000. Maybe #40 only gets $10,000 but still, dont assume they have no value to the shoe companies. The NBA has more players who werent Top 10 recruits than who were.

Sure, but what about the players who have massive shoe/company contracts? Most of them were very highly rated recruits.

Carmelo was a top 5 recruit.

James Harden was the 11th rated recruit.

Lebron/Kobe both were top 5 recruits that skipped college.

Kyrie Irving was a top 5 recruit.

Kevin Durant was a top 5 recruit.

Derrick Rose was a top 5 recruit.

Obviously Steph Curry is an outlier here. But as you can tell, the players with the biggest shoe contracts were definitely top 10 (or 11) recruits.

You're too obsessed with the BIG fish and are ignoring all the other fish. There are more than 200 current NBA players with Nike endorsements. Only a tiny fraction of them are big fish with their own mega shoe deal

Call me crazy but if I'm Nike, Addidas, or UA and I'm looking to throw some cash to influence a recruit that may be the next big NBA shoe deal/prospect I'm probably going to dial in on Kids that are ranked in the top 15-20.

Okay, so tell me how many young kids are begging their parents for a pair of the "Kris Humphries 3's".

You should post a list of those 200 current NBA players and see exactly where they were as recruits/college players.

Yeah, but that implicates KU. So for the sake of discussion we should ignore those recruits and look only at those ranked 20-100 - that's where the real corruption is!

Call me crazy but I would bet that multibillion dollar organizations get to be that way by not JUST focusing on the small number of uber elite. It is pretty clear that they throw money at anyone they think might ever have a chance to make the NBA. Obviously they throw MORE at the guys with a higher likelihood but they arent the only ones they target.

Otherwise we wouldnt be talking about Brian Bowen cause he will never have his own shoe by Nike.

Kris Humphries isnt wearing Kris Humphries 3's; he is wearing Lebrons and the more NBA guys fans see out there wearing Lebrons, the more sales of Lebrons there are.

Sheesh, do they not offer marketing classes at ISU? This is high school level economics here folks.

KU targets elite recruits so there is always a chance that they could end up with a kid on their roster who took money from a shoe company. I just havent seen any real evidence yet that leads me to believe that any KU coaches have been involved in that or that any KU players have ever taken that offer prior to playing for KU. If I do see real evidence then that will change my opinion.

Is it possible? Of course. Like I said, I feel it's possible with any program that signs kids that have even a chance to end up in the NBA. That list includes Kansas as well as dozens of other schools, ISU included. If you think Wigginton has no shot st the NBA then you're either selling him short or lying just to argue with me.

If the NCAA knew what was happening, crimes in this case, they didn't need to prove it to report it. Did the people at PSU need to prove be able to prove Sandusky was a pedo to alert authorities?

Very few if any are suggesting that not taking away scholarships from a Louisville made the NCAA complicit, but if they were aware of the financial crimes
Accusation without proof is slander and would make the NCAA liable for lawsuits if their accusations caused financial damage to the universities. With no subpoena powers the NCAA did not have any way to gain proof. Even in the UNC cheating case

Thank you! The fact that the NCAA may or may not, have even WANTED proof is a moot point.

Really?

I wonder just how many shoes have been sold because "I saw that no name guy in the NBA wearing that style of Lebrons and I really liked them", I'd be willing to bet very few, if any at all. What a stupid thing to say.

If you guys are looking to see me admit that I am worried about KU in all this then don't hold your breath. As a general rule in life, I really don't worry about things much at all, especially stuff that I have zero control over. All it accomplishes is to take years off of your life expectancy. Maybe there are other KU fans that are all bunged up about this but I won't worry about it unless I see a real report from a real source with real accusations of real KU coaches. Outside of that, it's just baseless speculation.

Especially when you already have the Big 12 brass and the Big 12 officials solidly in your corner.
