Tough to watch Rick Pitino get fired? It's been fantastic, I think he is a slimy little creep. As for Kansas, nothing has happened to us at all so it hasn't been a problem at all to watch. I find it kinda interesting. Honestly, Kansas has LOST more players thanks to being an Adidas school than we've gained. Between the kids who'd rather go with Nike because they're cooler to the kids to the payments of Nike to keep kids at Nike schools, we've definitely been 2nd tier when it comes to the recruiting Big Boys. Duke, Kentucky and Arizona (shockingly, all Nike schools) have dominated the top tier of recruiting for the last decade.

Late Night was this weekend, we're looking good in early 2018 recruiting. Life is good for this KU fan right now.
I was all ready to agree with your post after this, but then you kept going...

You don't think recruits are as nervous as the KU fan base is? This scandal has to be killing your recruiting.

I doubt the NCAA does a whole lot when everything comes out. Do you think they are going to go after their cash cows? They will probably rule it was to wide spread, everyone gets off this time, but going forward, don't do it again. So all of these schools, like UConn, Louisville, Syracuse, UNLV, Auburn, Okie State, South Carolina, etc...that have cheated, nothing will happen. The FBI might put assistant coaches, bag men, and AAU handlers/coaches away, but actual basketball programs will not be punished by the NCAA.

And? Do you seriously not think that Nike reps don't try to push kids to go to Nike schools and UA reps try to push kids to UA schools? Duh.
At this point, the difference is that Adidas is mentioned in an FBI investigation. Nike and UA still seem to be on the periphery.

I'm personally glad ISU is a Nike school. I don't think Nike can pay too much to basketball recruits. They put all their money into high wages and competitive benefits for their factory workers in Myanmar.

All the Nike subpoenas were served the day after the announcement, and there was a reference to Nike/Duke if you read between the lines. Don't think for a second that they aren't just as dirty,

The good news is that ISU seems to lose recruits to Nike schools (cough cough UNLV) rather than steal them.

Thanks. I'm not following the details very closely.

The NCAA won't have a choice since they aren't going to be able to hide behind closed doors this time...

Ask me that in 3 months and I'll let you know. As of now, we are doing very well in the next recruiting cycle and look good for several of Devon Dotson, Quentin Grimes, Romeo Langford and Zion WIlliamson to add to the two Top 40 big men who have already committed. KU could end up landing their best recruiting class since Wiggins/Embiid/Selden/Frankamp/Greene/Mason.

I hope you don't seriously think that Nike isn't paying big bucks to land recruits.

Considering our Nike deal relative to everyone else's, I'm doubtful Nike is helping us out under the table. The money that Louisville recruit got is like a third of our annual revenue from Nike. Or was it $300,000 for the length of the whole contract? I can't remember. Either way, from the payout to the uniforms we get from them, Nike has shown no indication of giving a crap about us. And for the first time, I'm kinda happy about that.

Just depends on who you're comparing it to and who else is in on the recruit you're trying to land. 5 star Wiggington chose ISU over Oregon (Nike) and Arizona State (Adidas) so "we'd really prefer that you chose one of your Nike schools over that Adidas school" is something I would bet might have been said to him at some point. That doesn't mean anything nefarious happened but ISU is now fishing in waters for fish that the shoe companies are interested in.

I was hoping my second sentence made it obvious I was being facetious. I think Nike's been corrupt for a long time and they've become very good at it. Adidas is probably newer to the corruption thing and probably isn't quite as good at covering their tracks.

I would love to see this. Duke is the one school that I think has not had any part of this entire scandal. Or even if they did it would be insanely hard to track at a private school like that, and I am saying this a s a man who passionately hates Duke.

I actually think Kentucky is probably cleaner than what most think. Sure, they probably have some shady booster activity but that program is basically replenishing itself and the NBA exposure UK players get is a huge added bonus. The first few years Cal was at UK he probably pulled some shady **** to get things rolling but I think at this point the chips just fall into place based off of the fact that UK is basically a 1 year NBA audition.

No way Wigginton is worth enough to Nike or Adidas for them to try to stear him to a certain school. It doesn't make sense for them to bribe players other than like the top 5-10 recruits, who they are 90% sure will turn into NBA players. Guys ranked in the 40-60 range have like a 25% chance of becoming NBA players, or less. That's a bad investment for the shoe companies. That doesn't mean lower ranked players don't get paid off some other way, just not by Adidas or Nike.
