4.5 million? What that means, in all honesty, that a Big 10 West title is the pinnacle for the Iowa AD.

4.5 million?

this feels like something that might be looked back on poorly in a few years. I mean, I get that they had a good year, last year, but does Barta not even suspect a little bit that the schedule had something to do with that? I mean, I get how fans want to ignore that, but the AD is supposed to be smarter than that, and see through the homerism, isn't he? They're always one 7-6 season away from fan mutiny. With as much heat as Barta got over the last contract he gave KF, you'd think he would have been a little more cautious with this one.

Don't really care what his annual salary is, but I am curious to know if/what the buyout terms are

Iowa fans complained when they couldn't afford his buyout just a few years ago when it was around $20 million. Now its probably around $45 million and the guy averages only about 7.5 wins per year. What are Hok fans gonna do when the next five or six win season slaps them in the face?

Wow.

He will be 71 in 2026.

I doubt he will be coaching until he is 71. My guess is he does it for another 4-6 years and then retires. If he truly stays until he is 71, then recruiting in those final couple years could suffer unless there is a good succession plan in place for when he leaves and recruits buy in to the succession plan.

Go back to being lifelong UNI fans for those years.

Pretty sure we already know their succession plan:

This really gets him to 2021 and then it will probably be time to retire.

If he decides to coach past 2021 they will have to extend him again in order to keep 5 years on his contract so it cant be used against him in recruiting.
