Both will be good, but football will feel better. 7-5 in football and our first bowl in a long time. We will be very happy. Basketball, we will most likely be on the bubble and barely get in, so it will feel more like a struggle with a lot of hope for the future.

Whats the measuring stick here? 30 basketball games, 12 football games, so 1 football win is worth 2.5 wins in basketball. So 6 wins in football would be 15 wins in basketball. I think we will win more than 15 basketball games, and Im not sure we make 6 wins in football.

So I'll say basketball.

Dang it, you're so analytical! (Seriously, I agree - good reasoning.)

You do need some adjustment for the fact that...

BB
---
Noncon = ~12 games
Conference = ~18 games
Postseason = ???

FB
---
Noncon = 3 games
Conference = 9 games
Postseason = 1... hopefully 2? :D

By this, one out-of-conference win in basketball = 0.25 in football (or just 4:1)
By this, one conference win in basketball = 0.50 in football (or just 2:1)

By this metric, going 6-6 (3-6) in FB is the same as going 18-12 (6-12) in BB.

That means a lowly bowl game and likely bubble team are pretty similar. There is not real equivalent for the Big 12 Tournament, save maybe making the Top 2 in the conference for the conference championship game is like making the Kansas City finals, maybe?

7-6 with a win in a lousy bowl game is around Round of 32, I guess.

If football gets to 7 wins plus a bowl game i think it would take a sweet 16 run to top it. Maybe even match it.
I think almost everybody will be disappointed in the bball team this year, although I do still think they'll make the tourney.
Expectation are just set too low in football that an average season will outweigh and decent to solid season in bball at this point I think.
