Our petite Goldendoodle will sit and stare at me and wag his tail as long as it takes for me to get up and get him a treat or take him potty or in some cases just put the foot rest up on my chair so he can jump up to sit with me. It would all be so much easier if he could just tell me what he wants. I haven't figured out how to teach him the English language yet though.

My sister in law's dog has been to the vet because he ate a battery, got sick from eating a hot dog that had been on the ground for over a day, and also swallowed a wash cloth.

Easier to train than a cat? Sure. Smarter? Heck no.

Cats rock and dogs rock. Cats are so easy and low maintenance but you can’t beat the loyalty and love of a dog

We have a black lab named Trice and Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Fennelly. Anyone here ever had a Chessie? Boy, they are different (in a good way) Super smart and protective and absolutely loving to the family and visitors. We've had 4 dogs and she is the best and smartest we've had.

She'd rather be with humans than dogs.

I'm okay with dogs and they always seem to like me. However, 3 things keep me from having a dog:
1. WAY too high maintenance. They're like having an infant that never ages enough to be independent.
2. The smell. I have a pretty sensitive nose and am a bit of a clean freak. Can't stand the dog smell or the drooling.
3. The dog personality and their neediness. Every dog's personality I've ever met is basically: "yes, master. I love you master. Whatever you want, master. I want to be with you 24/7, master." My cats show me a lot of love, but what I like the most about them is that they have their boundaries. They are more like a person in that aspect than dogs. They got their own things to do, I got my own things to do and we meet when we want and pet/cuddle/whatever. If my kids cry for any reason, the cats always come over and check on them, lick them, and are very concerned. They are very caring creatures, a lot more than most people give them credit for.

I don’t understand the smell comment from a cat person. I’ve always been able to tell the minute I walk into a house if a cat lives there. Maybe it’s like smokers that don’t know they and their home smell like smoke all the time because they’ve become accustomed to the smell?

Always told my kids that if they are involved in a relationship and find out the other person loves cats and hates dogs it was time to move on...
Interesting. These’s an old axiom that men treat women exactly the same way they treat cats.
