On a side note if the Keg Stand wants to compete directly with El Bait Shop maybe they should add more taps instead of creating a marketing campaign featuring a character called Al Bait.
Bull crap man. See post below or read their article in the link. I doubt El Bait Shop has 600 varieties. I assume you were drinking Coors or something of the like? Plus, the beer laws in OKC only make it difficult to sell stronger beers at convenience stores. Their bars with liquor licenses have IPA that flirt with the 10% mark, so your post is simply full of fail.I've been to a couple of the others on this including Hop Leaf and Tapwerks in OKC. Hop Leaf is fantastic and is a great place to check out after a Cubs game. I was not as impressed with Tapwerks however. They did not have a great selection, primarily due to Oklahoma's outdated beer laws. It was a cool space to hang out in though in between sessions at NCAA Wrestling this year.
No one beats the shop though, the selection and variety is just amazing! Keg Stand is a close second in Des Moines and is usually easier to get a beer at with the crowds being downtown.
I totally dig the notion of El Bait not offering a bunch of Miller Light/Bud Light place fillers. My local watering hole in CR, 3rd Base, has those options. Now I understand it's just smart business to offer what people drink, but it drives me nuts to be sitting there drinking one if their delicious in house brews (or even their visitors) and some chump orders a Bud Light. That's not what you come to these bars for, go to BDubs.
I like Third Base, however I'd put their craft beers on the same level as Millstream and behind Granite City, Back Pocket (in Coralville) and Lions Bridge for taste. Third Base has too much hops in their beers, even those which shouldn't be hoppy.
I still need to hit the new microbreweries in Marion, Solon, and Manchester.

I need to get to Lions Bridge and Parlor City. Also, I've heard the place in Solon is awesome.

Big Grove in Solon. Really solid beer and I've only eaten there once, but it was good. They've been doing a few partner beers with Confluence.
We tried Lion's Bridge as few weeks ago. Ehh. They only serve appetizers and the kitchen was closed when we got there (like 9:00). We're more IPA drinkers, and they are more Chech/German - pilsner/lagers it seemed. But they were ok.
Parlor City?
Parlor City is a bar/restaurant in the New Bo area across the street from the New Bo Market. It isn't a microbrewer, however they probably have the best selections of beer in town.

Speaking of BDubs, the one hereis being remodeled and they're adding 10 more taps behind the bar. I just know they're going to be filled with garbage, like Miller Fortune. I hope I'm wrong tho.
I've also heard the Oakland Road Hy Vee liquor store in CR has a fantastic selection, as the manager there is a huge beer guy. True?
I've heard a lot of good things about Red's Alehouse in North Liberty. Anyone been?
I'm pretty sure that Bruno has said that Coors Light and Miller Lite still outsell anything they have more than 2-1. Sad really...
