I have heard my dad swear in front of me maybe 10 times and 3 of those times was during an ISU game that Ed Hightower was officiating. Something along the lines of F***ing idiot

It's hard to make out, but at the end of Wellmer whining, Bill Self says something like, "Well you haven't done anything yet, just put his *** in a chair at half court, that will probably be just as good."

I actually kind of like Steve Welmer... am I in the minority here? At least he will explain things to the coaches, jokes around with the players, and has a smile on his face. Ed Hightower does none of these things.

Even though I only know of officials for the past 25 years my vote would still have to go for.......yes, yes he is.

I do enjoy his enthusiasm, however.

I remember watching a replay of a game from last year and Eric Heft made a similar statement. It was supposed to be an off air statement, but with the Cyclone.com replay it came through.

For me it's a tie between Shaw and Leimbach. Does anybody remember the game at Colorado back in '97 when Leimbach made an atrocious call (or non-call, maybe) against ISU and Tim Floyd completely wigged out? Charged out onto the floor, had to be restrained by the assistants and everything.

I went to grad. school at Central Michigan in the MAC, and some of the officials for that conference are just godawful. They made Hightower look like a genius.
