(Early) Friday 5: Favorite ISU-Iowa games

1. 2002 36-31 One of the most special games in ISU football History. I was there in person to see it. Gave us 5 in a row.

2. 2005 23-3 #8 comes into Ames and just gets destroyed.

3. 2011 44-41 3 OT's Just an amazing game and ending. Steele Jantz :notworthy:

4. 1998 27-9 This won't get alot of love from the younger generation here on cf, but for those that grew up hardly ever seeing a victory over Iowa this was a game you don't forget. The score doesn't give justice to how badly we beat them.

5. 2001 17-14 Game was played at the end of the season due to 9/11. Was a great game.

My 5:
1. Iowa State 36, Iowa 31, 2002.
2. Iowa State 23, Iowa 3, 2005.
3. Iowa State 23, Iowa 12, 1981. “Experiencedâ€￾ this game via radio, but I could hear the stadium enthusiasm oozing through the speakers. Still wish I could’ve attended.
4. Iowa State 44, Iowa 41 (3OT), 2011. Definitely the most dramatic finish in the series.
5. Iowa State 27, Iowa 9, 1998. Neither team was good that season, but breaking the losing streak (without requiring some last-minute sweating) was a pleasant surprise.

Omitted: ISU 31, Iowa 0, 1978. Had to watch it on tape-delay, so I don’t count it. Awesome result, though, it eased the disappointment of the ’77 game.

Prediction: A lot of our lists will involve 8 or 9 games, but ranking will vary.

Not even...the order might change, but the Top 4 are solidly 2005, 2002, 2011, and 1998. There might be a few different ones at #5, but there really aren't a whole lot of options to choose from.

Mine would look just like this one wth the exception of #3. I would put the 2007 game there instead but hey, this list is still solid.

1. 2011. Still one of the most intense games in the series from start to finish.

2. 2002. Best comeback in the series. First half sucked, but 2nd half made up for it.

3. 2005. The amount of Hawk arrogance was at an all time high, and we put it to bed. The game itself was boring, but had its moments. Still ranks up there though because of how bad we kicked their ***.

4. 2001. Nearly minutes before this game started, I got my acceptance letter to ISU's engineering school and my denial letter to Iowa's engineering school. Grew up in eastern Iowa and was a Hawk fan casually, and really wanted to go to Iowa. I switched allegiance right before kickoff.

5. 1998. Was a Hawk fan for this game, and remember being really ******. In hindsight, it makes me happy how upset ISU made me.
