I have a couple of different dynasties going, one where I play the games, another where I'm just simming to better understand recruiting and coaching skills. I signed a 4 star, gem wide out. He came in as a 76. Had a star development trait. Was my number 2 receiver as a true freshman. By his sophomore year he was up to an 80 overall. Still holding down the number 2 slot, but clearly had a bright future. Junior season, no stat improvement. Still an 80. Now he was number 3 on the depth chart. I took a closer look at him and even though he had been a 4 star with a good development trait, his ability caps were all pretty low, and he was maxed out. By his senior year, he was my 4/5 receiver and some of the lower ranked receivers I'd recruited were now ahead of him.

I think that's pretty awesome, to include scenarios like that in the game. It makes each player feel unique, and does a good job representing how each player takes a different path, in this case, a guy who peaked early and then plateaued. (aka the Hawkeye Quarterback path)
I didn't know Tariq Milton was in the game

Just finished my first dynasty season with Iowa State on AA (played the first 2 on Varsity not quite sure what the difficulty looked like). Started 8-0 with a few close games. For some reason, starting with Kansas in Week 9, I became completely inept on offense. Like, couldn't complete a pass without an interception inept. Could run the ball for more than 2-3 yards and the passes I did complete were like 3 yard outs. Got totally ****housed by Kansas, Cincy and Kansas State, and probably only beat Utah because they played their backup QB.

I don't want to switch my difficulty back to Varsity because the first 8 weeks were competitive and alot of fun. I recruited well and retained everyone so I'm hoping the talent jump for next year will make the difference, and I'll probably try a more pro-style playbook. But it's frustrating that the AI basically just decided to make the game impossible after I was doing well.

I think the AI kicks in and drives the in game competiveness up. Like it’s either it reacts to your trends or truly just ramps up the chaos.

I was pummeling teams with my AAC school 10-0 record and then hosted 2-8 Navy and they were throwing the ball over the field like Chip Kelly’s Oregon. Lost by 3.

I'm glad the AI adjusts, but it became ridiculously hard. I'll give it a shot this next season but if I can't find a balance where the games are competitive but not impossible I'll just stick with Road to Glory.

Anyone try firing your assistant coaches? I missed the window last offseason, didn't realize you only had one chance, but it looked like I could easily upgrade.

Try lowering the fatigue rating in dynasty. I had the same issue where the computer became impossible to beat, it was mostly because my players were super fatigued and less effective. I lowered fatigue down to 15 and Abu Same was all of a sudden balling out again in year 2. This would not be an issue if they allowed mass subbing in blowouts.

Wow, that's a big difference. I'm pretty sure ISU has 600. Is that a prestige thing that decides that?
I believe prestige decides that, but can't say for certain.

When I started at South Alabama, I had 400 hours as a 1 star prestige program. Now i have 500 hours as a 2 star prestige program.

I used to break a controller every now and then playing this game in the past. I thought my anger issues were controlled as a middle-aged adult until this game came back out.

I had half a mind to give mine a chuck yesterday. Then I remembered it's my kid's PS5, and I don't want to have to explain to the wife why I had to replace his controller.

When you have 2 people in position to make a tackle and they just don't try

That makes sense. Higgins, Sama and Brahmer all had pretty heavy usage early on, so that could account for why they couldn't do anything in the back 1/2 of the season. I'll give it a try.

Only thing that really drives me crazy is when the QB's roll out and the LB's are just standing in their zone with no players around them.

Sounds like this game was a huge hit. Also heard Xbox has sold a ton of xboxs over the last couple weeks

The publisher announced on Friday that 2.2 million players had gained early access to the game. As noted by IGN, the only way to gain this access was to buy the deluxe edition on console, which retailed at $99.99 compared to the $69.99 standard edition.

In addition to the 2.2 million players in early access, the game also saw 600,000 people play the game early through subscription service EA Play.

Pachter said Wedbush Morgan is doubling its sales estimate for the game from 1.5 million units to 3.2 million units as a result.

I fired one after my first season just to try it out and then also had the new coach leave 2 years later. I was definitely able to upgrade the first coach but had a hard time finding a good replacement for the one that left. You get like 4-6 options each week of guys to hire and it changes based on the carousel. One thing I'm curious about, I hired an OC who ran a Spread system and kept my Multiple Offense playbook. I lost several simmed games early in that season where I was a clear favorite. Not sure if related, but I fired that coach again after the season and hired a coach with Multiple Offense as his scheme and haven't had that issue. Not sure if that factors into anything or if it was just a coincidence.

Was it easy to get a better coach? ISU's starting OC/DC seem like they have very little ability points compared to some I'm seeing.

I've gone through it 3 times now, I think. So far, every offer I made was accepted. 2 of them were small school head coaches that showed interest from other small schools and still accepted my OC job.

It’s prestige of the school and prestige of the coach and the coach modifiers of both yourself and your assistants (if they have the “recruiter” trait or not)

Time for my own dumb question. How do you load a different dynasty? I only get the options to start or continue and if I continue it just loads the last one I played.
