The little engine is their point guard. Drake won 20 last year, lost four starters and were picled ninth. They played 10 players. This year the remaining playes play more minutes, have changed some plays, and won big with new fans around the country. They are on the TV and the radio. Gottlieb had Emmenecher interview last night for being a scholar. The little guy from Saginaw Mich never even heard of Drake till the last minute. He was the top scholar in the land this year. He never scored more than 12 points in a game in high school Three years he was just a walk-on. The guy landed a great job recently with a large local firm that will utilize his talents to be a trainer with his four degrees. He has never made a three pointer after the 3 attempts this year. He is just a winner.

Emmenecker topped the University division list. He has a 3.97 grade-point average while juggling four majors: management, business, finance and entrepreneurial management.
Emmenecker is averaging 7.4 points per game and leads the Missouri Valley Conference in assists. Drake is 24-3 and has clinched its first MVC title since 1971.
Emmenecker was joined on the first team by D.J. Augustin (Texas), Justin Hare (Belmont), Jack Leasure (Coastal Carolina) and Brett Winkelman (North Dakota State). Hare, Leasure and Winkelman all earned second-team accolades in 2007.
Ruths is the Academic All-American of the Year for the second straight year in the college division. He averages 18.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season for Washington, which is 18-4 and ranked fourth in Division III.
He carries a 4.0 grade-point average in computer science.
In addition to Ruths, Jimmy Bartolotta (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Eric Bieniasz (St. Norbert College), Steve Dagastino (College of Saint Rose), Chris Pendleton (Southern Virginia University) were named to the first team. Dagastino was also selected to the first team in 2007.
