DP Show's Seton gushes about ISU

Wouldn't blame him at all. He's good enough to start plenty of places.
It wouldn't surprise me either.

Personally I think either Moore or Mitchell need to switch positions after this year and the other one would be the back-up in the event of Noland transferring out.

Montgomery is special and I would enjoy watching him in Ames one more year but he is pushing to being the first RB off the board in the draft and needs to take advantage of that.
Agree 100%. He needs to go make his money without putting any more miles on his body or taking any more beatings.

I agree with most everything you said... however, I think DM is the best back ever at ISU. And I have watched ISU RBs in person, all the way back to Dexter Green.
TD was incredible, no question. We also had nothing else. He was virtually the entire offense. DM is a more complete back and is the greatest we've ever had, imo.

I sure hate to get into a "who is better" argument but how can a running back who rushed for two consecutive 2000-yard seasons - the only back to do so in NCAA history - and was a Heisman runner-up NOT be the best running back in ISU history?

How soon we forget
He was all we had. DM is more skilled and more complete. We are also more diverse offensively.

Noland is a RS Junior next year. Doubt that he transfers. Noland is team first and knows he is one play away.

Moore is the more likely to switch or transfer. But he could still be recuperating from major knee injury.

Noland is also the son of a very successful HS football coach, and he is playing/learning under one of the most desired coaches in all of college football. I wouldn't be surprised if Noland stays in Ames to continue playing/learning under Campbell and gets a grad assistant gig at a P5 school after he graduates.

Every defense we played knew he was all we had and knew he was getting the ball most plays and knew that to stop ISU all you had to do was stop Troy and yet he averaged 5.6 yards a carry for his career.

I'll be shocked if Nolands path is anything other than graduating and transferring after next year.

I'm more worried about Mitchell and Moore right now. Getting late early for Moore and I don't know how Re-al would feel about switching, though it would be the best thing for him long term.

Luckily for DM he'll only be turning 22 next year, so if he stays next year he'd be 23 at the start of his first NFL season. That's not too bad. Teams want their RBs young, with less miles on their tires. If he had redshirted and was an old Senior to begin with, that would have hurt his future earnings. RBs need to get that rookie deal played through as quickly as possible so they can get their one BIG deal before they are 30.

Unfortunately 23 is too old for a RB going for his second contract. NFL teams own your rights for 4 years, and the 5th year is a team option if you are a 1st round pick. Either way as a RB you need to get to that second contract ASAP. No team with a pulse gives a 28 year old RB a 4 year deal.

It really sucks for RB, but they get one chance (generally) for a contract. Their goal is the Todd Gurley 4 year $60 million type deal. And Todd Gurley is 24 right now....

Yeah, I was just saying, at least he would be a 24 year old rookie either way.

I don't see anyway Montgomery is back. Signing both Hall and Brock would have been quite the feat if they thought he was gonna be back. Butler is probably gone but if he gets a mid round grade I could see him playing 1 more year.
I personally think if CMC thinks David is ready for the next level, he will encourage him to go. Also with Lima and Butler.

He was incredible. DM is better and his NFL career will settle the comparison.

TD also had the advantage of running behind a couple of the best offensive lines in ISU history. If Montgomery had those offensive lines, I think he would put up crazy numbers, too.

Edit: not sure his offensive lines were as good as I originally thought...

Kohn (sp?) and Augufa were damn good, but aside from them I've literally never heard anyone say those were "a couple of the best o-lines in ISU history."

Oops, you're correct. I was trying to go from memory, but I thought he was with Marcel Howard and Lorenzo White, and those guys. He was before them.

Almost every time Butler gets tackled it ends up looking like this:
